My latest research shows Marmon built 390 ENGINES, but only about 365-370 complete Sixteens. All the factory records were destroyed in the late 1930s. 75 Sixteens survive, 70 as complete cars (this is one of those) and five as chassis only, ranging from frame only to complete driving chassis. We do not know how many of each body style were produced. This car is a Type 149 Close Coupled Sedan. There are 10 complete surviving Close Coupled Sedans and one chassis only, for a total of 11 cars. Marmon Sixteens were the \"muscle car \" of the classic era. They produced substantially more torque than a Duesenberg and will out run one to 100 mph. However, the Duesenberg has about 7-8 more mph on the top end. Sixteens are much lighter than most other classics sue to the all aluminum engine, thus have superior acceleration. These are still unknown and undervalued cars today. Have all the parts for the interior that can be used as templates for upholstery etc. We believe this car has never been stored outside. When I removed the headliner there were no water stains, and as you can see in the pictures of the interior ceiling there are no stains. This is a very rare car and deserves to be brought back to its former glory.
