Fast forward another few decades, and I've owned more than 25 bimmers over the years, including a '72 white on blue Bav. I bought it on ebay in the early 2000s for $4K, kept it for a couple of years, and sold it on ebay for about $8K. It was in just as good shape as this car, and I thought I was doing pretty well. Wish I would've kept that car, I'd cash it in right about now! As the video shows, these cars are a blast to drive, and this one, like mine, has been set up just right with Bilsteins, lowering springs, and 17\" BBS wheels. It feels like a big 2002 with more torque and cabin space and it is solid. This is a car that just needs to be left alone and driven-it is mechanically sound and has so much character that hasn\u2019t been stripped away by a full restoration.\r\n\r\nA few times I have chased this car through the Santa Cruz mountains while driving back and forth to Monterey car week events, last time it was in my M5. The M5 was a bit too much of a monster for those roads but the Bav was about perfect.\r\n\r\n@skadaddy sold me my '72 2002 about 20 years ago while I was in college which I still have to this day. He's owned (and owns) many vintage cars and they are always mechanically dialed and ready for driving or taking a trip in. Up until then it was nothing but 2 seat Triumphs. The Bavaria's performance was on par with the TR6s I had, other than gas mileage. It got around 17 mpg no matter what the driving conditions were. I had a gas station attendant in Oregon, where there is no self service, say \"20 gallons is a lot for a little car like that\". I had to point out that it wasn't a very small car but it did drive like something much smaller. I traded it in for a lesser car with something over 195,000 miles on it.
