The prior owner had the car for 34 years and only put about 13,000 miles on it in that time. It was painted white when he got it and evidently the floor pans were in sad shape as he spent over $6000 having them replaced in '89. The car probably wasn't even worth $6000 at that time so major props to him for giving this car a second chance at life.\r\n\r\nHe finally got around to rebuilding the engine (with a big bore kit and Webers) in '98 - and since then only about 10,000 miles have been added - more than 3,000 in the last year by me. So obviously he didn't drive the car much at all throughout his ownership - which is a bummer. This car loves to be driven - the more miles I put on it the better it goes.\r\n\r\nThe prior owner was involved in a few, what he called, minor fender benders in '98 and '06 that required some body work as shown on the receipts in the gallery. Then he finally had the car repainted in metallic blue in '07. It is a pretty solid paint job that has held up quite well over the last 14 years. Most of the rubber seals were replaced at that time too. He said the blemish above the driver-side rear fender appeared shortly after the paint job was completed and hasn't changed if at all over the years. He also mentioned to me that the driver-side door skin and the passenger-side front fender were replaced at some point, but he didn't have the records for it.\r\n\r\nWhen I got the car my priorities were to get the car mechanically sorted and safe - because I wanted to drive it. And I wanted to give it a bit of a vintage racer look. It is not yet perfectly dialed in as the parking brake won't hold the car on a steep hill and the tach still bounces around a bit even after a rebuild by Hollywood Speedos. Other than that it is mechanically pretty dang solid - stops well, handles great!, accelerates smoothly - has good pep, shifts beautifully as you can see in the driving video (no problem easing into first while coasting to a stop) and no leaks at all. The car is in my office and the floor is dry.\r\n\r\nThere are a few little projects for the next owner to take on - source a lock for the glove box, decide to repair or replace the parcel shelf - that kind of stuff. The interior is mostly original except the dash looks to be a replacement to me (the prior owner said it was came with the car when he got it) and the front seats were redone in '17. The radio seems to turn on but it is not hooked up to any speakers so I don't know if it actually works. I don't think it is original to the car - seems like a newer type to me.\r\n\r\nThanks for looking. According to the prior owner the car was involved in two minor \"fender-benders\" during his ownership. Both happened prior to having the car refinished in metallic blue in '07. I included images of the paperwork in the gallery. In '98 the receipts show repairs to the rear body panel and the right rear quarter panel. And also replacement of the right bumper guard and tail lens assembly. Total for all work was $1368. In '06 the receipts show that the same right rear area of the car was repaired (the quarter panel, the bumper) as well as some repairs to the front bumper. And again they replaced the right rear bumper guard and lens assembly. Total cost of the work was $3058. In '19 the receipts show a repair of the engine lid. The prior owner told me that his neighbor backed into his car leaving a small dent/scratch in the deck lid that he couldn't live with (because the rest of the car looked so good) so he had it repaired and the receipt shows they blended the paint to the quarter panels. That work was $1658.\r\n\r\nI don't see any evidence of any of the repairs (perhaps a more discerning eye could?) and the metallic blue paint has held up beautifully over the last 14 years - looks great as the pictures show. The lines of the right rear quarter panel look nice as does the front bumper fit and finish.\r\n\r\nSee image 79 for the imperfection near the driver's side quarter window. The prior owner told me that the imperfection appeared within a year or so of having the car painted metallic blue in '07 and hasn't changed if at all over the ensuing years. I can say that it doesn't appear to look any different over the last year that I have had the car.\r\n\r\nRegarding the driver's side door skin and passenger's side front fender being replaced - this is what I was told by the prior owner, but he had no records of either replacement. You can see in some of the images that the gaps between the doors and front fenders are less than perfect - the driver's side more so. But the gaps between the fenders and the hood and the front cowl and the bumpers, etc. are quite nice. According to the body guys I spoke with these gap issues can be resolved but could possibly require a complete repaint of the car. I was figuring on dealing with it sometime down the road when I was ready to take the car back to the original Gulf Blue.
