I just ran into Don Emde at the Lyon Air Museum in Santa Ana where there was a joint show with motorcycles and airplanes. @Slinkert Krober tach on this one. @Rockfordpickers anything to do with Bridgestone? @WillotheGlen there were a couple built back in the day. I purchased one that came out of San Diego a couple of years ago. I ran across the previous owner of this bike and he told me of another one as well. Hodaka offered in their catalog a bunch of hop up parts for road racing, dirt track and off-road. Close and wide ratio 5 speeds, high compression heads, racing clutches, larger bore single ring pistons to make an Ace 90 a 100cc. They had instructions for converting the ignition to a total loss by removing the flywheel and just running the points cam. Other instructions included the installation of a 16K Smiths Chronometric tack and expansion chamber dimensions. Mine had a Amal GP with a Dellorto remote float (equivalent to a 29mm carb!) The owner of mine bought the Ace 90 new in 1965 and was racing it at tracks like Riverside and Ontario. A picture dated 1967 shows a modified front brake similar to the one here however at some point the owner installed a Honda CR92 racing front brake, Akront WM00 fanged rims and Dunlop KR series racing tires (2.0x18 front and 2.25x18 rear). I took up BAT on the offer they made for members to display bikes at the 2024 Quail Motorcycle show. My bike was placed at the very corner where everyone entering the show had to pass. It got plenty of attention as one Hodaka enthusiast took my number and called during the day and we struck a deal. I think he has plans to leave it as raced and he mentioned he might take it to future Hodaka Days events.
