Caterham did this to comply with the RAC/FIA requirements for the modified production sports car category for hill climb/sprints/circuits in the 1980s before a full cage was required. The FIA cage is heavier guage steel in larger diameter than the vertical \u201croad\u201d cage. I would suggest that this car will benefit from that and at the same time you could clean-up what is obviously an amateur job.
