The title document lists 12,012 as \"Actual\", but the vehicle is too old for CarFax information. If you read through the build thread, you will see how I came to my conclusion. The Dealer Inspection Sticker is still visible on the lower corner pass side of the windshield. The engine had belts with AMC logos on them. The clutch and brake pads, all well within spec appeared to be OEM units and it does not appear to ever have been aligned. Alignment shop said it was good enough. That needs to be fixed since a Chief will usually bring a higher price. \n\nThe Indian badging referenced by Ghinmi is irrelevant since the Cherokee S had the same badging, but that did not make a Cherokee a Chief. \n\nJeep had a really convoluted approach trying to define the different models. At the most basic level, A Chief will always have a black stripe package. On the 79 Chief the stripe ran between the back of the front fender to the front of the back fender, then started up again behind the read fender to the end of the body. The stripe also ran the width of the tailgate. Inside all stripes was the lettering "Cherokee Chief" that matched the body paint color.\n\nJust search for 79 Cherokee Chief images on the web and you will see the black strip package I'm referring to.
