I loved the car and it was a big mistake to sell it about 10 years ago to a collector for 125K. I wish I had it back. The 456 M GT is very fast and incredibly stable at very high highway speeds. I drove mine often at near 150 mph and it was totally stable and it hugged the road like a Formula One race car. It is a very elegant design with a very beautiful and sumptuous all leather interior. The only downside is you have to budget at least $10,000.00 per year to keep up with its scheduled maintenance. With the collector car market down from its pandemic highs, it will be interesting to see how this car does. I know I'm biased, but I think I'm more in love with the color combo (and that metallic TdF hue) even more now than when I bought the car. ;-) \r\n\r\nI very much agree with the comments about how comfortable and lovely these cars are to drive. One of the things I wanted to try to capture in the driving video is that, in addition to being a fantastic gran turismo, the 456 is also a fun car to drive with gusto! I think that they may be underrated in that respect.... And, while the photographer did an amazing job, it's also hard to capture in photos how truly beautiful these cars are in person.\r\n\r\nHappy to do my best to answer any questions as this auction proceeds. I'll try to address those asked so far. If I've missed anyone, please let me know!\r\n\r\n@auto_addict: There is absolutely no rubbing of the tires on the rear (or front, for that matter). And the stance is spot-on with the 19s (IMHO, this is how these cars should have come from the factory).\r\n\r\n@Restor8: The original wheels and exhaust do not come with the car, as I was so pleased with the exhaust sound/volume and look of the wheels that I knew there was no chance I would ever want to return to stock. The Ferrari car cover is included. It is on the car currently (as it always is when the car is in the barn).\r\n\r\n@Slorjoe: As was already mentioned, I know of no way to measure clutch wear. However, the clutch was replaced at 13,000 miles (prior to my ownership), and it operates perfectly. In terms of oil pressure, it typically idles at just below 70 psi (middle of the gauge), and seems to range between 70 and 90 psi during driving.\r\n\r\nAs for the maintenance costs, while I will say that $10,000/year does seem quite high to me, there's no doubt that these cars require lots of care and maintenance, and any owner will need to plan accordingly. I'm sure this is not unfamiliar territory to any of the Ferrari enthusiasts on here! Properly maintained, they can be very reliable (as this one has been). For this particular car, you should be sure to budget for a so-called \"major\" (timing belt) service upon acquisition. Last time I did one (in 2017), it was about $3,500. I'll do my best to answer below.\r\n\r\nValve guides. This is a big one. Probably the single biggest reason I purchased this car is that Ferrari of San Fran had already replaced its brass valve guides with sintered steel in 2006 (see service records). So the specter of catastrophic valve guide problems is not an issue with this car.\r\n\r\nMotor mounts. I have them checked periodically and so far, they haven't been an issue. The prior owner told me that they had been changed, and they seem to be holding up ok so far. That said, they should absolutely be checked again at the next service. It's only a matter of time before they will need to be replaced again, even if they are the upgraded 575 mounts.\r\n\r\nGas tank pump rubber. The fuel filter was checked at the last major service in 2017, and there was no indication of any rubber degradation, so it was deemed ok then. But this should be checked again at the next major service. \r\n\r\nCoolant hoses. The problematic hoses (under the intake plenum) were replaced when the intake manifold gaskets were replaced in 2017. The rest of the system is functioning well with no leaks.\r\n\r\nSelf-leveling shocks. These were rebuilt last year by the experts, Delta Vee. I also replaced the accumulators.\r\n\r\nSeat adjustment. No issues with this car - all adjustments work as intended.\r\n\r\nThe F1 Import window fix, as I understand it, entails permanently upgrading the (poor quality) factory central joint/rivet for the \"scissor lifter.\" The problem with the factory arrangement is that it wears out with friction over time, causing issues with window alignment. The F1 fix is supposed to be a permanent fix.\r\n\r\nAs for wife exhaust sensitivity syndrome (WESS).......for what it's worth, my wife similarly has zero tolerance for any sort of exhaust shenanigans.
