Saab should have offered some more subtle colors such as this green on the Sonetts. Not everyone wanted electric blue, neon green, screaming yellow, tomato red, all of which could make the car seem even more juvenile than it was. There was a nice dark golden sand in '67 and '68, also silver those two years. \nI drove a 2-stroke silver '67 Sonett quite a bit back in the 1970s. It belonged to a friend and I helped him put it back together after he rolled it over late one night on a country road. So, lots of enjoyable road testing as we got it dialed in. It was an intoxicating little car if you had the right spirit for it. We did. The Sonett V4 is more civilized yet still has the crazed semi-kit-car thing going. Wonderful. I always loved seeing from the driver seat the screws that held down the ventilation scoop on the hood. And, just think, elsewhere in Sweden was made the beautifully handcrafted Volvo 1800S ... ;)\nLove 'em or hate 'em -- I loved them -- these early Sonetts are like nothing else.
