Echoing @longhorizon, these mid-engine Porsche's carry the soul of early Porsche. Centralized and low mass, no back seat. It seems it was the legume enumerators that swayed the company to toward a back with lower cost rear-engine design in the 1950's even at the sacrifice of balance and mass centralization. I would've loved to hear the arguments that led to that change in direction. Thankfully in the 90's Porsche had the guts to go back to mid-engine in the Boxster which may have been what saved the company. I was similar when I purchased the car. I have uploaded below the pre-purchase inspection performed at Hendrick Porsche in Charlotte, NC including a DME report that I paid $800 for in 2019 before I closed the purchase. While I want to be a responsive seller, I am not in a position to obtain another report before the auction closes. I can tell you that I never over-revved or mis-shifted the car in the less than 5000 miles I put on her, but understand you would prefer not to have to take my word for it. If you are the winning bidder I am happy to have you take the car to any reputable Porsche shop or dealer nearby (I highly recommend PMR in Long Valley where I have had her maintained since purchase. I think they are better than the NJ dealers), and get a PPI and DME at your expense. I am not a mechanic and will not comment on any sounds or smoke except to again say that the car has operated mechanically perfectly or I had whatever was wrong fixed ASAP at PMR. Heck, I just had her serviced and put new frunk struts on the car last month because the frunk lid hit me in the head and I wanted to do what was right for the new owner (see pic #144). This consisted of sort sort of magnetic probe inserted through the oil drain plug that was wired to a red indicator light installed right in the middle of the silver body colored console. The theory was that when/if the probe detected metal shards in the oil the red light would go on alerting the driver to a potential IMS bearing failure. This must have been installed before most people realized that the stronger 2006-2008 IMS bearing as installed in this car had an extremely low failure rate. After consulting with local Porsche mechanics including Bill the owner of PMR, who all said they had never seen a bearing fail on a 2008 car, we decided to remove the system. Removal left a large hole in the plastic console.
