I have had it for over ten years and don't plan on getting rid of it. Despite some of the \"scary\" comments below I feel safe driving it because I drive it like a 61 year old truck not a modern muscle car. Bed weights were added above the fuel tank after the first of second year of production ('61 or '62). Easy to identify by the carriage bolt heads in the rear of the bed that hold them in place - a picture of the open bed at the tail gate, if added by the seller, would indicate the presense of the weights. Safety is 99% determined by how defensive the driver is. This isn't a vehicle for long trips but it can do so if needed, it will just be loud. Driving position is comfortable. You need to learn you are in front of the wheels which changes the way you steer (you steer later than in a conventional vehicle). This one seems to have a vacuum booster for the master cylinder as well as a proprtioning valve installed allowing for properly dialing in the front / rear bias - necessary with a front disc conversion. \r\n\r\nYou won't get more thumbs up driving anything else, everyone loves them. I use mine as a truck; weekly to the transfer station or to the lumber yard. The low bed makes these particularly functional. This one has many desireable features and upgrades - I don't think the v8 is necessary but it will certainly put smiles on the buyer's face. The Canada only Mercury badging makes it all the more rare. Its just the paperwork that has to be right or they will hold it at the border. My vehicle got impounded at US customs for almost a month. You must use a importer who knows what they are doing or it will cost. By the time it was over, I had $2200 in import fees. Not including transportation.
