In those days, if a dealer wanted to sell Jensen Healeys (and for a year or two, they were quite hot as sales items) you also had to sell Interceptors and Lotus as well, and that's how my employer wound up adding those lines to his BMW mainstay. The engine in this Lotus Elite was first used in the Jensen Healey and the dealership I worked for seemingly functioned as the R&D dept for both Lotus and Jensen. The gearbox seems OK although I have not driven the car much or at high speed. The frame appears to be in excellent shape with just surface rust as it only has 20k miles and was never winter driven. As far as I can tell the car has never been repainted.
