If my mine looked anywhere near as good as this one I would be delighted. Unless these bumpers were chromed then they are actually brite annodized along with the trim around the front grille, and the door window frames. In all cases the brite annodizing seems to be in incredible shape; typically the annodizing fails after so much time so either these parts have been restored or it is a testament to how well this car has been cared for. Upholstery looks to be very good (you can't buy the brown fabric last time I checked at VP). The carpet looks sound and the door cards look near perfect. \r\n\r\nThe windshields are available from VP but are pricey to ship. I have been told later 240 glass will work but don't know if true - if true the 240 windshield are generally available from local glass shops through their supply network. You will need to find an old school glass installer to properly install with the butyl tape as everyone wants to use a urethane sealant which is problematic. \r\n\r\nBattery trays are available but it would be good to know if the sheetmetal below the tray has been corroded from battery acid which is a more challenging repair. The headliner seems to be failing at the passenger rear; perhaps a trim shop could address that without replacement. I wonder why the passenger front door seems to be bowing at the bottom. Skimmed the head to raise the compression ratio. Hardened valve seats. Weber downdraft conversion (which I may undo). IPD lowering spring, sway bars, and sport exhaust. Virgo wheels and wider rubber (Toyo's). And I installed an overdrive transmission to improve its cruise-ability on the freeway. Mine's a California market car, which might have something to do with it. \r\n\r\nI eventually swapped the SZ's out for SU's and the desirable one-piece cast iron intake+exhaust manifold from 1968. Of course, that was before I tumbled down the Competition Service rabbit hole, and the accompanying Solex 45 ADDHE. Jetting those proved problematic when coupled with the newly-fitted VCS head, so my favorite mechanic \"loaned\" me a pair of bona-fide Italian Weber 45 DCOE's. That was 2 years and 3,000 miles ago. Someday I will finish my 142GT tribute with all the right VSC bits.....but not today. \r\n\r\nBack to the SU versus Stromberg question. I heard someone say that SU went on strike in 1969-70, and that obliged Volvo (and others) to seek out the Stromberg alternative. Later I heard that when British Leyland rolled up several venerable British Marques, it included Skinners Union. The resulting conglomerate kept SU's solely for their own product lines for the first few years.
