Both cars had much to do with Chrysler's high performance bona-fides and the great Chrysler products that followed. \r\n\r\nBurt passed last year, and he should not be forgotten.\r\n\r\nAs for the Charger we see here this is the only B body that could pass as a full size car. It extended the formula of the 1960 and 61 Chrysler 300 F & G with its 4 place all bucket seats, full length console and electroluminescent instrument panel lighting (no bulbs). \r\n\r\nMost of these were 318 equipped but they came with a 383 or the newly introduced 440 version of the 413 as options. \r\n\r\nAs to the 383, among my favorite motors, I once heard NPR's Car Talk host Tom Magliozzi admit that the 383 was likely the best V8 ever made. Beside it being very original, never wrecked, never had any rust, as we all do with a new purchase, I did a lot of research before and after taking delivery, so maybe I can help on some of the below.\r\n\r\nThe listing is incorrect when it says 'a headliner is not installed', unless there is an additional one beside the one shown in the pictures. A quick run through the pics shows two photos that show the headliner, one with the white visors more prominent.\r\n\r\nThe '66 and '67 first gen Chargers had a one piece headliner, with the two formed lines around the perimeter, as shown in the photos.\r\n\r\nMy '66 also has white interior, and the correct headliner color is black, as in this car.\r\n\r\nAs to engines standard and available in the 1966 Charger, the standard engine was a 318. This may have started mid 1968, but no matter in this case.\n\n\"Date coded correct\" might be the better term for an engine prior to this. The first thing I learned to do in my teens to know what year a B/RB engine is, was to look at the stamped information on the forward upper block. On a B engine (361, 383, 400) there is a flat pad just below the distributor, on the RB (some late '50s 383s, 413, 426, 440) this pad is between the heads, just forward of the rail that holds down the valley pan. A 1966 engine will be stamped \"C383\", 1967 would be \"D383\", and so on.\n\nOn the side of the block, I can't recall which, the date the block was cast will be marked. Sometime within a few weeks to a few months I believe is considered acceptable.\n\nTo the seller, it would also be nice to see photos of the inside of the trunk area. OEM will be carpeted, not a mat, and will have a sort of black board material on the left that covers the jack. The wall dividing the trunk and interior is made of plywood with a felt type of material on the trunk side, and carpeted inside.\n\nItems specific the the 1966 only?\n\nThe simulated sport steering wheel was standard in '66; '67 came standard with a regular Coronet wheel, with the sport wheel optional.\n\n1966 was the only year with the center console that was continuous to the rear seats. In 1967 it stopped at the rear of the front seats, then a break before a short one between the rear seats, with an ashtray at the front of this rear piece.\n\nThe dash lighting on '66 and '67 is electroluminescent, where DC power is inverted to about 300 volts AC, but at very low amperage. I know this sounds shocking, but it's true.
