I'm super excited to be here and a little surprised that the listing went live so quickly (I just approved the listing write up this morning). \r\n\r\nWhen I bought this car a little more than 5 years ago, it was on a bit of a whim. There were many things that I liked about it - the Canadian connection (having been produced in the Canadian Studebaker factory), it's Pacific Northwest lineage, and the fact that it appears to have sat for 35 years in a warehouse and now an opportunity to bring it back to its former greatness. Another attraction was that the car was pretty close to me, so an easy pick up and drive home.\r\n\r\nThe good news was that the shell and interior were very well preserved. The bad news was that even tough old Studebaker V8s don't fare well with sitting for that long. The engine was literally full of sludge. So some minor tweaking that I had hoped to do, turned into a full on, engine out restoration. \r\n\r\nI am able to do a lot, but I don't do paint and bodywork and I don't do anything requiring machining. So I disassembled the car and removed the engine and transmission. The rolling shell went to a well known local painter where it was stripped bare, minor rust removal on the floor pans (no sheet metal replacement was necessary), primed, painted and back to me for reassembly. I sent the engine to Anderson Precision for a nice bath, and overhaul and the transmission was cleaned up and resealed. \r\n\r\nI know there are a few Studebaker enthusiasts here and I look forward to their help answer any and all questions. I look forward to turning over the keys to the new caretaker and expect it will bring them many years of enjoyment, lots of smiles and thumbs up.\r\n\r\nA cold start and driving video should be up shortly. The previous owner got it running with a new gas tank, and a few other things, but a much more significant restoration was required which is what I have completed during my ownership. All this to say, I can't say for certain, but it appears to me that the ~78,400 miles on the odometer may be the original miles on the car.
