In three years I put 117K on it, mostly highway. It was a great highway driver. But I did take it off road too, and it performed well. I had the 2wd/4x4 version without full time 4wd and kept it stock. Bought it for 31k, sold it for a little less than half that to a dealer. That's a lot of trouble free miles for $15k. This was my daily driver when I owned it. I literally did nothing to it other than replace the tires and change the oil. On the down side, I was on my third set of tires when I sold it, so I didn't like the fact that it went through them so quickly. I also didn't like the poor visibility to the back sides and rear; or the kids getting in and out of its uncomfortable back seat with no opening windows; or the cheap plastic bumper ends. But those were my only complaints. I didn't even have to replace the brake pads or rotors - they literally lasted that long and still had a little left. Only my 1987 Jeep Cherokee Loredo matched that on pads/rotors since new, with a set of Michelin X all season tires that went over 100K. These FJs are well built. It's the most trouble free dependable vehicle I've ever owned in 40+ years.
