I recently replaced my OEM single plate clutch with Aston's AMR dual plate clutch (and lightened flywheel). The total cost charged by my high-end zip code dealership, including tax, was $7,100 and they threw in an annual service and detail. The AMR kit cost $3,200 (clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and throwout bearing) and the labor included the setup procedure for the twin plate, and update of the RCM, CEM software. When I woke up this morning I knew it was going to be an Aston Martin Vantage Volante 6-speed cruising kind of day. The first joy is the excitement of knowing there is one in the garage. Opening the garage door revealed the little darling, as the door slowly opened the anticipation builds. Opening the wonderfully balanced door and sliding into her open arms of a seat, the wisdom of my choice for a cruise in her was confirmed. Inserting the key and giving it a twist revealed a wonderful Aston Martin philosophy, Power, Beauty, Soul. The starter button illuminated in red and the delight of pressing that button was rewarded with a magnificent Aston Martin roar; all was right with my world. Those of you who have owned AMs know the feeling well. To paraphrase an old boat owners saying, the two happiest days of an Aston Martin owner's life are the day it is purchased and it arrives, and every day you get to look at it, touch it, and drive it. The saddest day is when it leaves(in my case, totally theoretical as I'll never sell mine.). I put $15K into maintenance and am well versed on maintenance costs.\n\nI live in the San Francisco Bay area, the most expensive metro in the U.S., arguably. I had my clutch replaced by the top rated Bay area Aston shop (independent), and chose to buy the AMR V12 (twin clutch) kit and flywheel, the best kit money can buy. OEM V8 kit is cheaper, ditto for the highly regarded Velocity AP twin plate clutch kit. Total costs for my clutch replacement were $6K, and would have been cheaper had I gone for the aforementioned parts. Labor was $2,200 FYI. Costs of $7K-$9K seem steep to me, but obviously at dealers that is probably the going rate.\n\nOh, and my car also did not have nav (a beautiful thing) and because of that did not have cruise control, so this listing stating the car has cruise control is likely not accurate - I believe nav and CC are paired together on these early Vantages.
