I will do my best to start and answer your questions. First a brief history; The Imperial was purchased in 1995 by my father in law, he did a frame off restoration from 1995 through 2007. I don't have alot of pictures from that, but I'll try to find them and post them. I did help with some of the work, though he was the genius behind the modification's. \r\n\r\nFirst question: Yes it is a 1955 Imperial while posting most sites don't have an option for just Imperial you have to use Chrysler. This is a 1955 Imperial Newport painted and upholstered in the ordinal colors. White and Gold.\r\n\r\nSecond question: The title is from the state of California, it does say 1955 CHRY and listed as salvaged. The restoration took place in Utah, there it had a rebuilt/restored title because we didn't have the original owners title. When I moved to Ca. 3 years ago and was transferring the title I had to have a VIN inspection done(it passed) and I was told they don't do rebuilt/restored in Ca. The engine is a 1957 392 block and heads. not really a \"modern swap\" more like modern tech. He choose this year of block because it was what Imperial used for warranty engine exchanges back then. The engine and trans were completely rebuilt in 2002 before being installed. The electronic fuel injection that he wanted to but on it is controlled by an OBDII computer out of a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. The manifold is a Crager blower manifold (good eye there FAO) and he machined it out for the injectors. We played with the injector size to get the tune were he wanted it and settled on 36lbs MOPAR injectors.\r\nThe addition of the OBDII computer also helped with the control of the cruise control and overdrive.\r\nQuestion four: AC controls are tied in with the original heater controls, I will upload a video on that. The air ducts are ran through the headliner on both sides. Dad saw that in a vintage Cadillac and really liked the design. It is R134 and the evaporator is mounted in the trunk. everything else is in the engine bay. The wiring diagrams are valuable, they are combining the engine control wiring from the '97 with the chassis wiring from the '55. Many of these conversions are great for the original owner. Subsequent owners are hobbled by having to figure out \"how it was done\". At least here you will have a fighting chance. What is this hybrid of new and old powertrains worth? Hard to say. The car with an original 392 intake, carbs, and 2-speed powerflite would be a known animal. For modern autos there seams to be short timeframe where the transmission ecu could stand alone and be suitable for swapping and that coincided with domestic 4, 5, and 6 speed boxes.", "likes": 0, "timestamp": 1699290565, "type": "comment"}, {"id": 12893238, "authorName": "FAO", "authorUrl": "https://bringatrailer.com/member/fao/", "bidAmount": 0, "content": "@pragmatic \r\nReally no worries on the EFI conversion.\r\nFirst if it runs, then it runs.\r\nIf it starts running odd for any reason do NOT automatically think it's the ECU.\r\nBack years ago, that was ME!\r\nWith every issue anyone had with a 'newer car', I pointed to the 'black box' as I hated computers in cars.\r\nI mean really hated them.\r\nIronically, now, I make part of my living doing EFI conversions.\r\nWhat you need to do, and I tell my customers this all the time, is to check the plugs, check the plug wires, check for any vacuum leaks before you start eyeballing the controller.\r\nBut, first pull off a plug wire if it has a skip, and if it doesn't run worse, that is the faulty cylinder.\r\nPull the plug, and see if it's dry or wet. (Note, it's a real Hemi, and you will get oil on the plug when you pull it out as the tube sets down in the oil under the valve cover. Try to pull the tube out with it so to not get too much oil on the plug).\r\nIf it's wet, it's either a bad wire, plug, or the injector might have dirt in it and flooding it.\r\nSwap an injector, and if it moves with the swap the injector is at fault, not the plug.\r\nYou could swap plugs also after you clean the wet one.\r\nIt is usually a simple ordinary issue.\r\nI've had customers really mess up a tune by going into the ECU on a laptop and start changing things.\r\nThey don't just change by themselves, unless you have an ECU that does self tune constantly, which I don't particularly like.\r\nThe trouble with them is if one cylinder is running rich or lean because of dirt in an injector it will automatically lean out the whole tune, or enrich the whole tune, and it will really run horrible. \r\nIt ain't rocket science anymore.\r\nI started doing this back in '94 and have learned a few things.\r\nI also have an inexpensive ECU that is stand alone and tune-able if you happen to be the new owner and have any issues.\r\nI can also tune the car remotely if you get lost in doing anything on it.\r\nLike I said if it runs, it will probably run forever, just like the Dodge it came out of.\r\nAny issues at all, just tag me and I'll help out.\r\nSame with the trans conversion, which I just see pop up while I was writing this.\r\nThe trouble with completes swaps is that the ECM seems to control a whole lot of other things that just not used on a '50's car.\r\nI'm just not impressed with late model swaps, even though I've done them.\r\nThere seems to be no real imagination there unless the swapped stuff was radically modified at the same time.\r\nI just hate all the plastic stuff that covers all the mess underneath.\r\nBut that's just me.\r\nI see nothing wrong that a different air cleaner wouldn't fix, unless you went with a 2-4bbl set up that looks like a carb and an old Bat Wing piece.\r\nI'd just drive the thing, enjoy it, and some winter maybe if you get industrious make a change.", "likes": 5, "timestamp": 1699291321, "type": "comment"}, {"id": 12893461, "authorName": "pragmatic", "authorUrl": "https://bringatrailer.com/member/pragmatic/", "bidAmount": 0, "content": "@fao I don't fear a well done conversion (like this one appears to be).
