They've gotten more rare as a result. I like the 250 GTE 2+2 as is, so I don't think the headlight treatment or other mods are necessarily an improvement, but with the stripe it looks like some other Ferraris of the era (not the California, I don't think), and this is a car you can drive as much as you want with little fear of the engine needing an expensive rebuild or just breaking on you. Credit to the seller for giving it some revs towards the end of the video. Maybe someday it'll be treated to a V12 again, but for now, it's something different. Not for everyone, but it looks like fun to actually use rather than fret over whether it's gaining or losing value. Ferrari considers what constitutes the \"car\" to be based on the chassis, since their engines often would be replaced especially in racing, so it will always be a Ferrari even if it has a Corvette heart. It's obvious this isn't a concours restoration, so shoving a Chev engine in there isn't completely crazy. Probably as much HP as original and more torque! Nice 5-speed and some good extra bits and pieces to be pretty nice package overall. Not sure about the front end paint myself, but each to his own and not hard to correct. Interior isn't the best (lots of loose fitting leather it seems) but period-correct look probably. Only real issue to me is that humongous fuel cell taking up the entire trunk! A grand tourer like this needs luggage space, not a Le Mans fuel cell. But, again easily fixable if so inclined. With a little personalization to your own tastes, this would make a wonderful fair weather cruiser with looks a plenty and enough Italian soul and American ingenuity to be a standout anywhere. As far as the stripe that has been somewhat criticized, I happen to love the placement and instantly thought of the Thorndyke Special (Apollo 5000GT) which was a favorite of mine growing up. Perhaps coincidentally, it too was powered by an American V8. Kudos to the seller including the notes from the mechanic detailing the repairs and modifications that were made to the car. As with any car that's been heavily modified, there can be serious bumps in the road to keeping the car on the road, and this car seems to have its' share - the future owner has been warned.
