I learned to evaluate a potential purchase in terms of what the individual parts might be worth. After looking through these photos I can't find a single worn or questionable part. Even the front bumper is either an original or very well crafted repop. You can tell by the curved main bar (the one that attaches to the axle) and the riveted construction. Run of the mill repops have a straight main bar and are welded. It was coming out perfect as I was making the last low pass ring I hit something big with the blade. went back and saw a bunch of bent up metal and was so made at the neighbor for putting his crap there picked it up and threw it as close to his house as I could. Put the Tractor back in the pole barn and as I was walking to the house I looked back and the front of my 8N was missing it's beautiful grill. We got ours in the spring of 68. Dad had no interest in the Jersey Shore as he'd see all his insurance customers and he knew his 4 boys would raise hell there, so instead he bought \"The Farm\" in Waymart Pa. With 40 acres fields an 40 woods we went wild. \nOurs was a 52 with from Fairfield Tractor in Fairfield NJ. It was a trade in from the Lebeada Farm and only 140 Hours. \nWe sickled fields, plowed crops, scooped manure, hauled timber and unstuck buddies out of snow drifts. Towed an old wooden boat out of the swamp, onto the road got it in 3rd and dragged that flat bottom cruiser a 20mph plus till the bottom melted away, with a boatload of 14 year olds aboard. Dad had no idea. He was right to keep us way from the Shore. years later when I was clearing brush for my car barn my wife took the wheel as I chained up an eldeberry thicket. In first it hooked up and rotated the 8N skyward, straight vertical stopping only for the tow bar. As my young bride screamed, panicked and froze, I launched forward and slammed the throttle closed with my right hand catching her with my left and it fortunately stalled. however the gas was leaking out the tank on to us as we made our next move. I simply popped the clutch a few times and it controlled rotated back down and we thanked our lucky stars.\nNever wanted to sell as I bought it from my family and restored it for my place in Jersey. But moving to CA it made no sense and I sold it to a enthusiast out of Virginia who paid me $4k in 1997. It had 260? hours and was solid, ready to plow.
