Rally Pac was center mounted clock & amp/oil for 1968 and vacuum gauge with amp/oil in 1969 & 1970. Rally pac or Go-Pac DID NOT include a tach, since it was stock; For 1968, tach cost $43 in a Javelin & 1969/70 tach cluster was $50; presumably, the 69-70 tach cluster could be ordered in Ambassador, Rebel & Americans. Other things to note is that the seat belts are 1968 style. It appears that this car has the later Bendix floating caliper brakes with vented rotors. The motor clearly has dog leg heads and the engine tag decodes as June 25th 1968. Now, allow me to set the record straight on AMC 390 motors: 1968 engines had a W in the tag, while the VIN had an X. The same is true for a 1969 390 motor. Both of these motors were rated at 315 bhp. The 1969 SS AMX motor would also have a W code engine tag & had a nominal rating of 340 bhp. In 1970, the 390 now had an X code on the engine tag and an X code VIN. This motor was rated at 325 bhp not including any benefit from ram-air. The Rebel Machine 390 had a Y code engine tag and a Y in the VIN. It is rated at 340 bhp because of a bit better exhaust and intake manifolds. The 1970 AMX/3 had a 390 rated at 340 bhp; probably a Y code engine. The windows would pop out of the channel at the top with a big enough gap to stick my fingers out the window when I hit about 85-90 mph, even when new. It scared me to death the first time it happened when I heard a huge WHOOSH of wind noise. \r\n\r\nThe woodgrain metal overlay bent above the tach (like it was too short to fit right) and the glovebox door has never fit correctly, no matter if I tried or the dealer tried, or other mechanics or body men tried to adjust it. It is too close to the rest of the overlay at the top left side of the glovebox door. So, the tight fit wants to bend the overlay where it touches the glovebox door when I try to open it. The dash problems are 1970 year only since it was different before and after that year. \r\n\r\nI had to call a factory rep in about 6 months after I took delivery to okay a windshield replacement. I was driving along and the new Chem-Cor windshield, developed with a vinyl liner to keep the windshield from busting into tiny shards of glass, shattered from one side to the other. The dealer wanted me to turn it into insurance, claiming it was hit by a rock or something. \r\n\r\nI called the factory and had a rep examine the windshield and he found zero marks on the outside of the windshield. It was completely smooth on the outside and inside but looked like a spider web. The glass didn't fall out due to the liner. The rep decided that it must have been installed in a bind and popped due to heat or hitting a bump in the road with the stiff AMX suspension.
