Immediately after purchasing it the engine was rebuilt, I added dual Dellorto carbs improving performance and the engine compartment appearance, retrofitted Wiechers Sport strut to improve handling, PerTonix electronic ignition, front air dam, and added fog lamps. In 2008 Top-End Performance in LA went over the car from the front to the rear. They added front and rear sway bars, tuned the carbs, replaced the brakes, reworked the suspension, and tightened the chassis. Over time I added front bucket seats with upgraded seats with horsehair backs and headrests with new seat belts to improve safety. During this time, I intentionally kept the mileage down by only driving to ensure proper operation. The car has great acceleration and fantastic cornering. \r\nThe steering column is consistent with a 1970 BMW 2002 \u2013 so it is likely newer than the original. \r\nIn sum, with 3 sway bars, Dellorto carbs, electronic ignition, and front air dam, the car exceeds top performance.
