These are exceptionally well-regarded in the off-roading community due to their short wheelbase and robust drivetrain. From the factory the short, narrow tires and high ground pressure were less than ideal but if you\u2019re trying to get any stock 1988 1/2-ton through a mud bog, that\u2019s on you, not the truck. (Also, the Dana 44 TTB in this Bronco could be superior to a straight axle in many off-road situations; I prefer a solid axle for a few reasons but tires, gearing, LSD/lockers and operator skill are going to make far more difference.)\n\nBut it\u2019s a moot point now.
