With two days left in the auction I thought I would share some more information. I purchased this project to keep me busy after a relocation. My wife was not able to move for another 2 years, so I needed something to do. I have a long history of automotive restoration, including a Fiat Dino, 6 Alfa Romeos including a 71 GTV and a Montreal, and a ground up Shelby replica build. \r\n\r\nThis cruiser had sat for many years, and required more work than initially thought. I installed a NEW rebuilt engine and rebuilt the transfer case. Flywheel was resurfaced, new clutch and pressure plate, slave cylinder, master etc. Complete wiring harness and front axle rebuild. It indicated approx 87,000. When I rebuilt the speedo I reset it to zero when the new engine went it. The engine has just under 600 miles on it. At 500 miles I conducted an oil change and adjusted the valves. On this truck the motor is fine, it just needs a new gear and wiring that has been run needs to be wired to the relay. There is new weatherstripping on the tailgate. Several factors went into this decision to rivet. I could not find anyone local to do welding work. I consulted with the 4x4 group I belonged to and many recommended the rivet solution they had used on their own vehicles. I have experience with this construction (repair) method, it is how my first roadster was constructed. This method is also used in airplanes and race cars, so it is the method I went with. I never intended for this to be a show vehicle, it was to be used for offroad use. This is why my focus was on mechanical, not cosmetic repair. I have Thousands of dollars in receipts, all mechanical related.
