I found this car at Gateway motors in New Jersey. I am the 2nd owner. Gateway sold it for the family of the first responder at 9/11. This responder pasted away a few years ago, from complications of 9/11. My understanding is that he bought the car new & it was garage kept. It is obvious the car has been pampered. The low milage & excellent condition are the proof. He at some point installed a Webber carborator & electronic ignition. (My opinion is that these two upgrades make it much more reliable.)\r\n Things I did to make it close to perfect. New Kenwood Sirius xm radio, New clutch slave & hose, New brake manifold & fluid, New front brake hoses, New parking brake parts, New headlights. I replaced the steering wheel with an original style MGB wheel from ebay. I also had tow pads wielded to the frame. You really have to look to see them. I have towed this car behind my motorhome a few times, it tows good. I have owned 5 MGB's in my life. Two of them were New in the late 70's so, I am pretty familiar with these cars. The car I am selling looks very good, its solid & drives just like a new MG would drive. It goes down the highway straight with no effort required. I will most likely have sellers remorse it sells. \r\nP.S. It's been de-smogged and whether the addition of a Weber Carb is good or bad is subjective depending on who you ask. The original Zenith Stromberg carb in good working order is superior to the Weber in my opinion. \r\n\r\nPlenty of standard MGBs have been converted over to look like LEs over the last 45 years as it's not hard to do (NOT SUGGESTING THIS ONE HAS BEEN). The only real way to know is by looking at the Heritage certificate or even the tire pressure sticker inside the glove box as it is different than the cars with standard Rostyle Wheels. The VIN# will not tell you if it's a real LE or not. \r\n\r\n@js8vv8 The coco mats are now unobtanium unless you had a custom set made. I still have my original set (in storage of course).\r\n\r\n@Dbran6172 I have a 1980 LE with 2,400 original miles on it, was in storage for 40 years by an ex-JRT dealer. It drives like a brand-new car. I may list it here shortly.\r\n\r\n@Baldbear The North American MGB LE rolled off the line in March 1979 and was introduced in dealer showrooms in April 1979. There are a lot of 1979s out there - over 6,000 were built between 1979 and 1980. The LE was just a marketing trim package to boost flagging MGB sales. The last MGB imported into the U.S. was an LE and went to Henry Ford II for the Ford Motor Company museum to go along with Edsel Ford's 1929 MG M Type. Mike Cook the PR Guy for BL/JRT once told me the cars were shipped with the plaque in an envelope inside the glove box, for the dealer to install. I suspect that is why you see them in the middle, the left, the bottom, etc. Mine was pop riveted on from new by the dealer and on the left. I bought my own example recently and continue to work through their peculiar little idiosyncrasies but theres no denying that when the top is down on a summers day they are still so much fun and the wifey loves it more than my Cayman - at the moment they are terrific value for money too for under $15k This particular car looks like a lovely example thats been well cared for. Over the years many B\u2019s have been through my shop and I have seen many owners of LE\u2019s remove the front spoilers because they catch relatively easy on road calming bumps or car park concrete place stop markers which easily damage the thin plastic and make them look unsightly - as far as rbenb65\u2019s comments the steering wheel additionally many replace the standard LE wheel with the much thicker rimmed $299 Moto-Lita item so its hardly worth mentioning - if it was a $40k Austin Healey i might be more inclined to talk about the historical relevance. As a long term owner of an MGA and a black on black 77 that has been lowered and has twin carbs, I can honestly say these later cars are wonderful country road cruisers. \r\n\r\nAs far being modified, who cares? MG's have been modified from day one. In fact the first MG was simply a modified Morris. These are extremely rare, priceless pieces of automotive art.
