They are the priciest item to make the car complete. I can post additional pictures of center caps, lips and mold stamps (BBS/VW) this weekend. \r\n\r\nWe bought the car in the 90s from a family friend, he had a decked out alpine system installed: tweeters are still in the door a-pillars, speakers in the upper dash and then the factory locations, there are cables still running to the back for an amp and subs. The old school alpine he unit died a long time ago, after we installed the supersprint exhaust I had no desire to put in another radio. \ud83d\ude01\r\n\r\nFactory AC was damaged during maintenance: I believe all the parts are here and will go with the car. We removed the hoses, compressor, and condenser, all stuff in the car/behind the dash is untouched. The condenser was damaged (I\u2019ll post a picture). The tube twisted and split. We just removed it and saved the parts. Not sure if the condenser is salvageable or will need replaced. The mechanical fuel injectors and the fuel distributor will work best ( and be less likely to fail ! ) if non-ethanol fuel is used, especially if the car won't be driven every day. Fuel with ethanol will cause expensive problems with these cars, because it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and the resulting water in the fuel causes corrosion in the injectors and fuel distributor, and can contribute to the fuel pump becoming \"stuck\" ( as seems to intermittently be the case according to the BaT description of this car ).\r\n\r\nThe fuel injection system has a primitive OBD arrangement. I'd call it OBD-1. The connector is found under the shift boot, to the left of the shift lever. To connect a scan tool you need an adapter which is called a \"2x2\". Ross Tech and other vendors sell these adapters. \r\n\r\nThese cars have two fuel pumps. One pump lives IN the fuel tank ; it is the low-pressure transfer pump. The main ( high pressure ) fuel pump lives in a plastic box which is located under the car near the right rear wheel ; this pump is a Bosch rotary pump which develops the high pressure required for the mechanical fuel injectors to open. If you know what to listen for you can hear both pumps operate briefly when the ignition is switched on. The pumps won't continue to run unless the engine is running.\r\n\r\nBentley Publishers still sell a shop manual for these cars, and it's essential to have this manual whether you're going to work on the car yourself or not. Most of the techs who were familiar with these cars have retired or expired, but most everything you need to know is in that Bentley manual. Because the car is so light, you really need a taller sidewall on the tire, unless you're going to only drive on roads which have no surface imperfections. The stock tire size on the 1990 - 1992 GTi 16V was 195/50-15. VW knew what it was doing when it used 15\" wheels. \r\n\r\nRE : the \"splitters\" on the hood, similar splitters were used on the BMW 3.0CSL, and they may have done some good on that car, which had the aerodynamics of a brick so it needed all the help it could get. I have no idea whether the splitters on this GTi help its aero.\r\n\r\nI wish I'd kept all the A2 cars I have owned. (Late 90s, early 2000\u2019s)\r\n\r\nThe grill has some tabs broken, it is loose in a few areas \r\n\r\nAs far as the lines, I\u2019ll point out some of the pics, when the car is in the garage the hood is popped, didn\u2019t realize that when the photographer was taking the pics. I reckon nearly any car wheel would have bent when running over a Christmas tree trunk at 80mph. After a few on and off cycles it moved, pumped fuel and I drove it around no issues. I wanted to call it out in the ad in the event it happens again. \r\n\r\nI bought a new Bosch pump, however I didn\u2019t see the need to swap it knowing the car is sitting until the leak was fixed, or if someone wants to restore this, they can install it after a restoration.\r\n\r\n I have started it and cycled fuel regularly, knowing these older systems do not like ethanol/old gas. The new in a box Bosch pump goes with the car. Side note We have always ran 93 octane in this car, the fuel in it now is fresh ~5 gallons in the tank\r\n\r\nThe wheels are a sore subject, they were damaged early on during our ownership, and sold 2 that were good (who knew they\u2019d be so valuable now-days??) I found these locally a year or so ago.
