Once we reached an empty, straight, and open (no place for cops to hide) stretch of highway, the driver opened it up. Man, that 2.7t got that wagon moving! I couldn't, and didn't, try to keep up and I never saw him again. I've been immensely impressed by these ever since.\n\nFast forward to 2022. We had to have the technician who had installed the media system in our house for the previous owners come by to help us set it up. He showed up in one of these but it was ROUGH. Body damage and curbed wheels. I asked him about it. He said he's had the car for a long time (possibly original or second owner?) and loved every minute of it. He said he had a mechanic somewhere in New Jersey that knew these in-and-out and kept his on the road. He said it wasn't cheap or easy but he had no plans to replace it with something in the near future. The ad lists \u201cthree previous owners\u201d I am actually the third owner. The second owner is a friend of mine. He purchased the car from the original owner and verified all maintenance. Carfax Report is accurate. Since I acquired the car, it has been gone through with a fine tooth comb! Everything that needed to be fixed or was even a \u201cpotential\u201d issue has been addressed! One may note this by carefully reading the invoices shown in the ad. This vehicle is mechanically sound!\nThe car is completely stock with the exception of:\n1) The Rial wheels, (5), made in Germany, hubcentric, proper size and offset for the Allroad. \n2) The Bluetooth connection for the stereo operates when the head unit is in the CD changer position. The single CD player and cassette player that are in the original head unit still operate normally. \n3) all of the window glass, with the exception of the windshield, have a very light tint. \n4) The headlights have clear Lamin-X film and the tail lights have a light tint Lamin-X film. \nEverything else is as it was from the factory!\n\nNOTE 1) the sought after twin spoke wheels that were an option on this car have been restored, (full set of 5) and come with the car. \nNOTE 2) There are three sets of floor mats. Factory Audi all season rubber mats are currently in the car. Also included are the full set of original factory carpeted mats, in excellent condition, as well as a full set of AUDI factory logo\u2019d deep groove winter mats.\nNOTE 3) The Curt hitch that is included is still brand new in the box. When installed it is completely hidden underneath the car and behind the rear valance. Ituses a typical 2 inch hitch.\nNOTE 4) the air suspension works as it should. The vehicle is a sports car in position 1 and will go anywhere a 4x4 truck will go in position 4. For clarification position 2 is \u201cnormal\u201d, and 3 is for situations where more clearances needed, but is speed limited, similar to position 4.\nNOTE 5) important to note that one cannot add a third row seat to a \u201cnormal\u201d Allroad! These are built at the factory and have seatbelts for the two occupants in the back as well as special mounting points in the floor. The third row seat in this car is in brand new condition and may not have ever even been used!\nNOTE 6) The imperfections on the car are as follows: One small scratch in the clearcoat, 3/4 of an inch long on the rear hatch close to the license plate. Three very tiny rock chips in the leading edge of the right front fender. Similar rock chips above the windshield on the roof line. There are three minor indentations in the sheet metal. As previously noted, they will not show up in a photograph. There is zero damage to the paint, but they can be felt when detailing the car. In the case of the power steering pump, the first one had a very slight bend in the shaft so the pulley was wobbling. \nTires and Wheels:\nI actually have five(5) sets of wheels and tires. I have another set of Rials with Michelin ICE-Xs as well as another set of stock Audi wheels w Blizzak WS2s. Running the ICE-Xs on the DD car, (actually 280 K), they are fabulous. \nThe car I\u2019m selling, there was no need to drive it in the winter, but I might give up another set of wheels if somebody really wanted that option. The car is so clean I was reluctant to do so, even as good as these cars are in the snow\u2026 Nothing short of amazing. We live in a very high snow area. Winter of 22/23 we had 900 inches at Lake level, no lie! I powered through all of that with the DD car!\nThe car for sale has seen 10 K over the last 3 years, just to be certain that it was sorted. It has seen very little mileage in the last year. Note that this car is almost 25 years old now, so to only have 120K original miles on it is part of the reason why it\u2019s in such great shape! It gets started regularly, and brought up to operating temperature. If it sits more than 3 weeks, the suspension will start to bleed down. We have spent hours trying to find what this is. No leaks that can be found, suspect that there is a \u201ccrossover leak\u201d in the distribution block. This is a problem that has been found on occasion in the air system. The block can also be replaced, but it is a non issue if one drives the car occasionally!\nAnyway, questions, keep them coming, and thank you for your interest!\n\nNOTE: Key point on these cars, you hear criticism of the turbos and having to replace them. My daily driver 2001 Allroad, again 280,000 miles, is still running on the factory stock turbos! Aftermarket exhaust system on this car but the turbos have not been touched. There are some preventive maintenance items like regular oil changes with one particular additive, (careful to give up that secret), that makes these things live. The car I\u2019m selling has been treated with the same magic. Of course I would share that information under the right circumstances. Answers in order:\r\n1) \u201cRight window door frame\u201d, Crazy story and you can\u2019t make this stuff up! My wife drove the car to work where it was parked in an underground garage. Parked next to it was a SUV with a ski rack full of skis on the roof. While unloading their skis, the people lost control of one of them and it went right through the right side rear door window of the car. Zero damage to the interior as well as the exterior, but shattered the window glass. These cars are unique, it is easier to replace the whole frame with the glass in it then to replace just the glass itself! Had to have the tint redone, but there is zero evidence of that mishap and of course they paid for all of that.\r\n2) Exhaust system - all intact no squeaks, rattles, leaks or loose parts! It is tight and quiet! Completely stock, zero issues!\r\n3) Aware of the rattle can black on some of the exhaust. I am not a fan of this, and it was unnecessary as these cars usually do not have a problem with rust! Not certain, but I believe the spray paint was probably done back when there was a clutch job in the north west, maybe Seattle area, that was not completed correctly. This is precisely why, even though the clutch was working, I had it completely replaced with all factory components!\r\nMy hope with the spray paint is it will eventually burn off. Despite this cars time in Mass, what we use on the roads in the Reno Tahoe area is as bad or worse. Crushed volcanic rock with 10% salt in it, along with chemical ice melt as well as regular applications of brine solution, we have nasty conditions here! My other \u201801 shows very little signs of rust other than surface, and it is driven in the aforementioned conditions over and over\u2026. 280K! \r\nI like to treat any signs of rust with a couple of different products, \u201crust con\u201c or \u201crust fix\u201d. They both go on clear, and turn black after contact with the surface rust and really help with mitigation. (Side note, both sides of my family come from New England so I am very familiar with East Coast conditions!)\r\n4) Shifter- the car shifts beautifully! There was a very slight amount of play so we replaced the bushings, attention to detail!\r\n5) \u201cthump thump\u201d- This is the best one! When we did the video, and I was driving, pulling onto the 2 lane highway I drove right through the huge pothole that is there at the stop bar. I cringed because I know it\u2019s there and usually avoid it! I was instructed not to speak while we were filming so the curse words that wanted to come out were held back! \r\nOnce again, great catch on your part, there is nothing wrong with the suspension and normally no thump thump noises!\r\n\r\nThank you again for the excellent questions! I think my only complaint is that it spools up so fast that 1st and 2nd are useless under hard acceleration because of the long throw shifter and my age diminished reaction time. However, once you get her in 3rd it's truly exhilarating! Soon mine will be due for it's next oil change @ 270,000 miles.
