We own 2 of them, an 05, and an 06, both turbo engines. They both have about 250k miles and oil consumption is a qt every 2500miles. The biggest problem seems to be the crankcase ventilation system. A poorly designed internal passage to the crankcase/oilpan. Change the oil and filter religiously and use full synthetic. The other thing that is different from the rear wheel drive cars is that these are computer networked and diagnostic capabilities are limited without the ability to interface with the network. \r\nYou\u2019ll need to have a reliable local service technician that has the equipment. I decided to do them both as I thought we would be having this car in the family for a long time. A local tire and alignment shop put them in along with the rear shocks. One of them was leaking. I installed the lower engine mount since I knew about it from my other Volvo. I have been driving an 05 XC 70 that I inherited from my father 11 years ago. It has 272k miles on it now and has never missed a beat. Everything in the car seems to work as it should heat, A/C etc. There is no rust on the body anywhere and the underside is clean and dry. The only thing I can think of to point out is the radio volume knob, it works but is sporadic.( the same thing happened to my XC70) The steering wheel controls work perfect. I'm sure your new driver will \"need\" an updated head unit anyway.
