Yes, everything works as expected. No gremlins, no stories. \r\n\r\nAside from regular oil, filter and fluid changes, you should be good for regular maintenance items. Note the BMW service schedule on these is very long, and most of the owners I've spoken to do not adhere to those and service more frequently - it's an oil change and brake fluid flush every year/6k miles, then other fluids as needed after inspection/based on age. These N54s are relatively reliable so long as they're driven, and they don't need huge engine out service items unlike contemporary cars of this era. \r\n\r\nThe N54 (specifically think it's the N54T variant for the 1M) in these is pretty solid. But it's still an N54, so the typical N54 issues are the ones to look out for. The water pumps on these go out eventually (most owners say around 60k miles). The OEM charge pipes tend to disintegrate and crack, but I replaced mine 6k miles ago at 10 years and 24k miles, so you should not need a new one for a long time yet. The serpentine belt eventually wears with age/miles, and will need replacing with its tensioners (mine shows a little wear that's commensurate with mileage and age, but a replacement is not necessary yet). A serpentine belt and tensioners is not a major engine out job - I was told by a local reputable independent shop that did an inspection on the car recently (see the carfax) it's about $750. I've heard about turbos going out too with very high mile cars and cars that have been tuned (mine is 100% bone stock and has never been tuned). \r\n\r\nSome owners go the extra mile and get their engine walnut blasted, but that's beneficial for higher mileage cars and I think running good quality gas (which mine has always had) helps with that. \r\n\r\nI'm attaching a snapshot of the car's maintenance summary to date. The fluids have all recently been replaced - brakes (May 2024), diff, trans, power steering, coolant, and even the blinker fluid ;). All four tires, spark plugs, coils, battery, charge pipe and filters all also recently done. \r\n\r\nAlso check out this thread on the 1M forums for a link to the \"official\" service schedule. https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=859119. Alongside gas for the last 13 years, the logbook shows all maintenance since delivery. Keeping a logbook for a car takes a lot of effort, and I can't say I'll do it for this car's replacement. However, I hope it shows bidders just how well this car has been taken care of by two owners who cherished it, and how special this car feels to own and to drive.
