I had a Dinan tuned and badged 2000 1/2 740 M-Sport and owned it for 20 years. Put 300k miles on it. It was designated a 2000 and a half. The 20and a half received the three spoke M steering wheel, but still had the amber corners which changed to clear corners in the last year 2001 model. One of the great cars for sporty luxury at the time. Main issues are: radiators and expansion tanks, became replacement items and were good for about 50K miles before needing replacement. BMW actually lowered the price for the radiators and tanks due to the repeated failures every 40 to 50 k miles. Also the window regulators were of poor quality. Other than those items the car was bullet proof and at 300K miles the 4.4 liter V-8 was a smooth as the day it was bought. Couldn't even feel the engine was on when idling. Very nice ride. Other than the items I mentioned. Only major repairs in 300 k miles were a trans rebuild at 155K miles, timing chain guides at 190K, and a alternator replacement at over 200K miles.
