There was some bubbling of the paint just under the gas tank door opening that bothered me no end. Also the top left hinge of the drivers door ( i guess that is redundant) seemed to have some flaking of the paint and I had that done professionally as well. And the paint was the original matched paint a perfect match as the car is garaged most of the time so the paint is near virgin quality. Hope that clarifies. They did a great job looks like new.\r\n\r\nI see the top once maybe every 10 years. I replaced the motor for the ? bonnet? as the top did not come off easy the previous time. \r\n\r\nThe soft top is a very thick material and almost seems to have a thick felt lining underneath very rich and sumptuous It was too nice to use!!! A whole lot nicer than my old mercedes 450 sl top or my corvair top. Usually you find these after having been passed around through multiple owners with varying degrees of commitment to service a maintenance. Kudos to the @Seller and long time owner for his up front approach with the auction thus far. It's clear that the car has been well maintained and issues dealt with promptly. That more than anything is the key to its likelihood to do better here than the others I've seen. \r\n\r\nThis one falls into an interesting subset of cars with Italian/European influence during this time frame. The Allante, Reatta and the TC were attention getters for US car companies coming out of the dismal days of the '80s. They said \"Hey, cars can be fun again!\" The TC, in particular, with the K Car years to overcome, had a tough job. I think it did pretty well. \r\n\r\nAuctions for these generally devolve into \"discussions\" as to whether or not these are real Maserati cars. Frankly, given the multinational components involved with a Japanese designed engine, Italian designed styling and American everything else, you'd need diplomatic credentials to come up with an answer. \r\n\r\nThis looks like a very nice example that can do today what it was designed to do in the early '90s . Let me say that it has been very good for my wife and I We are constantly stopped for photos and told how wonderful to see a car of this vintage by people esp tourists in palm beach. Brings them back to their childhood. Also when we park at parties it is always parked up front as an \"antique maserati\" in front of the rolls royces. And what is nice about that is we can always get our car immediately when we leave.\r\n\r\nI have also renewed with new rubber or whatever the tc club advised new struts new shocks so the suspension feels like when I first got the car about one or 2 years old in palm springs/palm desert chrysler in 1992 / 1993 time approx. And the club recommended changing the rubber engine mounts and these were changed as well. \r\n\r\nAs another aside, I pulled up next to a friend at a light in palm beach , he had a 911 and for fun i stepped on it ( speed limit in palm beach is 25 to 35 mph ) for a half a minute and l left the 911 in the dust , at least that was my impression. We had, for a number of years, a LeBaron with this engine. We also had a Plymouth Voyager with the 3.4 Chrysler engine. From new, the loose tolerance Plymouth engine used a quart of oil every 2k miles. No leaks, no smoke, just consumed, for 170k miles. The Mitsu never, ever needed topping off.
