This should be a template for how a 996 is maintained and listed here: the actual serial # of the IMS replacement shown, proper parts used and shown in the list, and borescope done correctly. I'd be bidding if I hadn't just bought one myself. \n\nTake note: there are a lot of cheap 996s on the market, but most of those I looked at were poorly maintained or with halfway done work. The work done here shows the owner was diligent in its maintenance and did things properly instead of the cheapest possible solution. The replacement of the timing chains and guides is something particularly overlooked in a lot of M96s I looked at (these were replaced here, which any M96 should have done) and the use of the IMS Solution is, again, a rarity as most owners throw a replacement in that has a limited service life (the Solution is for the life of the engine) to save some $$. Using the IMS Solution is the only way you should consider the IMS \"done\", all the other options need replacement at certain intervals. \n\nGLWA, this one deserves it. While I can\u2019t say for certain that all invoices were captured between then and now, there are quite a few to show. If anyone would like to see anything specific, please let me know and I\u2019ll see what I can dig up.\r\n\r\nAs stated in the above write up, some major modifications I completed are as follows:\r\n-IMS Solution \r\n-Ultimate AOS track version (no, never taken it to the track)\r\n-Cam Chains and Guides (requirement of LNE for the IMS Solution pre installation procedure)\r\n- Bore Scope (checked per the above procedure)\r\n-Ohlins R&T Coilovers (stock GT3 heights)\r\n\r\nTwo issues I have not addressed are the slow sunroof as stated above, and foam coming out of the air vents, not addressed above. There is not an abundance of foam, but it\u2019s worth noting for the future owner of this car.\r\n\r\nWhile this thing is a blast to drive, you can only get so much power out of the M96. I am looking for another platform. Flat Six Innovations has discussed this numerous times and it comes up constantly, yet most shops just refuse to do it right, which means you might miss early phases of scoring if you just go in through the plugs. Dropping the sump can also show if there is a lot of metal in the oil, in retrospect I would have done this on mine. It was done properly here, but most shops do not do this correctly.\n\nThat said the M96 is less prone to scoring than the M97 AFAIK.
