I would love to see the early ownership history on the car. Considering it was used as a promo car, I bet it was owned by either Nissan corporate or one of their executives. \n\nThe shock tower VIN plate shows KHLZ31XATUGL5W, so that confirms it is a genuine 50th with automatic and federal emissions. Plus there are dozens of other clues that would conclusively prove that anyway. I have spoken to a few people, some of which have personal knowledge of this car from it's time at Mid-Ohio as well as the gentlemen that was responsible for the car Making it out of Mid-Ohio and being titled. The car was given to Mid- Ohio by Nissan of North America. The Letter is pic 100. This was a non- saleable car. It never went against Nissans Car numbers for import. The car was to be destroyed or returned after it's time as a pace car was over. It was used a couple of years in that capacity before being stored at the track in a building until around 1997 when the owner at the time contacted a friend who was a IMSA driver to get ride of the car. He was able to get a title out of a state on the East Coast ( easier to do back then I've been told ). He stated the low production number as well as it not quiet being the same as the cars that were put into production and sold. The stripes on the car are the Mid- Ohio colors and are painted on. The car has never been painted by anyone's knowledge that knew the car as well, there are no signs of it being painted. Firewall inner finder everything matches the color of the body. That being said when the stripes were put on back in 1984 they did re-clearcoat the entire car. The Mid-Ohio logo are stickers. As for the font being different or missing the Gold between Silver and Black that is the way the car was delivered to Mid-Ohio. As seen in the pictures 96-99. It is be leaved that things on the car were refined between this car and the cars that went into production to be sold. Again this is all information I received from people that knew the car from that time period. This car did not come with the Factory 50th Anniversary wheels those are something I sourced since I've owned the car ( they were extremely hard to find ). I feel with the original photos i have and the collaboration from the people I talked to this car is exactly how Nissan sent it to Mid-Ohio. It is believed that the stripes were put on by a Local Nissan dealership in Mansfield, OH. Finding a few people still around from that era and time that had personal knowledge of the car has been very helpful in trying to trace it's past but there are still more to know about it's History.
