Every drive feels like I'm getting away with something. I raced 125 Shifter Karts and we have a terrific track here on Maui. I used to dream about what it would feel like to drive my kart on Maui's back roads and I have chased that feeling and dream through many cars: 88 E30 M3; 99 Z3 Coupe; 02 Z3 M-Coupe S54; 03 986 Boxster S; 94 Miata R; 06 MX-5 Miata; 05 Lotus Elise; 10 987.2 Boxster S. I finally got there with this Atom. The Elise was the most direct, raw, elemental and involving drive, but the Atom by far exceeds the Elise in all of those characteristics. The manual steering rack communicates more than the manual racks in the Elise and Miata R, and the unassisted brakes are so linear. The Atom truly is a full-size version of a shifter kart, but with softer edges, like...suspension and a full seat. Also, having always been a motorcyclist, the Atom immediately stands out as having an unobstructed view of the next bend in the road; no trying to look around a-pillars or (for tall guys) windshield headers. All of that, plus the lack of bodywork and full view of the suspension working, gives you the ultimate connection to the road and your surroundings. All of that, and it's civilized when cruising through town to your favorite roads. So, I enlarged the seat's harness holes upwards, to make the harnesses horizontal from my shoulders to the harness mounts. I also added some removable padding at the ribs and shoulders, because the seat is wide for me. At 6', I still have room to slide the seat back some more. I recently had a passenger who is probably your weight or larger and he fit in the seat. It really depends on your body shape.
