The RT is one of the best touring bikes ever, and pretty good for almost all riding. Visually, it slows traffic, which has a positive point of view for reinforcing traffic safety. Police have unmarked vehicles, which needs to be pointed that that law enforcement is obligated to self identify in traffic stops. There are visual ques for safety enforcement such as funeral detail, traffic control and VIP scenarios where a bike like this would be helpful, yet not technically Law Enforcement officers. A kind of vehicle like this is purposefully useful. Likely not a great \"social riding\" machine. They're also big and heavy, not to mention expensive to maintain. Several stations part ways with the BMW model, varying from 1k to 2.5k service costs annually. Lots of parts, damage, routine maintenance. Would be a fantastic commute/touring bike, especially for remote locations. Safety minded, techsavy, adventure/sport touring enthusiast. Having a CB radio system would be a very nice travel feature on the open road, as are the storage compartments. These bikes have advanced breaking and lower gear ratios. My bike had lots of torque, so it didn't need much throttle pull to climb grass hills or slow creep up parkways. Larger fuel capacity, and naturally all the ABS, suspension, and traction features are very attractive. One of the biggest hurtles is purchase price. And getting one through here is a huge advantage. A new rider likely shouldn't get one of these. It's a complex machine that's much bigger and heavier than \"startup\" motorcycles. I haven't heard of people trying to steal them, but it is a thought.
