The Maserati technician said that not uncommonly there is a node in the steering wheel that goes bad and can cause all sorts of different electrical issues because of the interconnections. And to access it they essentially would have to destroy the steering wheel - hence I had to just replace the whole thing. I have worked on them and also had a detailer work on them as well. About a year ago I fixed the driver side window controls and the panel to the left of the dashboard with the parking sensor, gas tank, etc. buttons, and the old steering wheel. A lot of elbow grease, baby wipes and armor all. Before deciding to sell I worked on the center controls with some rubbing alcohol (saw on another YouTube video). Worked great on the lower center controls but started to take the paint off a bit around the monitor. So stopped there and brought it to a detailer to work on. He also worked on it with various things. He told me some of the stickiness is gone but some remains as he didn't want to risk damaging something in the process. He also touched up the areas that I had started to damage. The car is still currently with the detailer in his garage to keep it pristine for sale. I have asked him to send some closer pictures of the buttons that are still sticky. I will upload what he sent.
