However their value is a fraction of it's predecessor and the repairs to bring this one just to the drivability level will quickly put its new owner underwater- even at the current bid level.", "likes": 2, "timestamp": 1729215286, "type": "comment"}, {"id": 15881336, "authorName": "Armchair", "authorUrl": "https://bringatrailer.com/member/armchair/", "bidAmount": 0, "content": "@Mbellows, I know a LOT of Bus folks love the 71 as it is the last year of the Type 1 engine in the USA and first year for the excellent power assisted brakes with discs up front, but personally, I prefer the Type 4 engine models that came after it as that engine cut 13 seconds off the 0-60 mph time and made them truly capable enough of keeping up with traffic...a late model (77-79) cut the 0-60 time in half compared to a 71. The Type 4s would also do double the mileage in between overhauls, and the late fuel injected models with hydraulic lifters require very little in the way of maintenance beyond oil changes. I know purists will argue, and I do like these earlier Bay windows for their simplicity...there will always be a crowd that will prefer the 68-71 Bays, and there will be those of us that like the later ones. And of course there are the guys that won't even talk to those with anything made after the 1967 model year.
