I would like to take the time to provide some background. I acquired this vehicle in Barnstable, MA early in 2021. The owner described the background of the vehicle. He stated to me that the previous owner to him was an older woman who lived on Nantucket. He stated that she would ferry the car on and off the island and her son even used it at some point as a local USPS delivery vehicle only on the island. Despite New England having a well-deserved reputation for being incredibly harsh on vehicles, some vintage cars and trucks emerge unscathed if appropriated a certain lifestyle. In the case of this gorgeous 1987 Jeep Wagoneer Limited, it has lived on the island of Nantucket off and on for 33 years and remains in a mostly rust-free condition after being brought to NJ. I have taken good care of the vehicle and poured my heart and soul into it. However, at this point in time, I am looking to move into a larger daily driver SUV and this facilitated the sale. I do have to question however the instrument cluster as that cluster with that specific font was not in any XJ until model year 1988, which raises the question of accuracy on mileage. 1987 and prior models had a completely different look and the Tach and Speedometer needles both \u201crested\u201d at about the 8 o\u2019clock position the newer cluster needles \u201crested\u201d at the 9 o\u2019clock position. The older 87 and prior cluster was used in SOME 88 and newer XJ\u2019s but the newer \u201clooking\u201d cluster was never to my knowledge installed in any 1987 or older XJ. The clusters can be swapped between years with mechanical speedometers/odometers with very minimal effort and time. I have attached pictures of the original instrument cluster. I did not care for the \"goofy\" enormous fuel gage in the '87 cluster package and lack of tachometer.
