Fantastic all-around motorcycle. Great powerband with a nice kick (just the cams I think, not VTEC) in the upper rev range. Very comfortable for daily riding too. It's really a Universal Japanese Motorcycle with a slightly racier design. Lots and lots of aftermarket accessories will work, including a larger windscreen, if you must. Hydraulic valve adjustment if I recall and shaft drive make this any easy maintenance bike. 16\" front wheel (I didn't think the rear was 16\") makes it surprisingly nimble, but it still has plenty of stability. After trading mine for a windsurfer setup, I progressed up through many other faster and bigger motorcycles before ultimately giving up motorcycling. I would've been better off just keeping the Nighthawk S from the get-go. It was the most functional and most fun of all the bikes I ever owned. First one was an old 100cc Yamaha which I outgrew in about a month. Eventually moved up to a Kawasaki 400 LTD which I kept for about four months. Somewhere around my fifth or sixth bike I bought the clone to this one brand new. I had it for a couple of years, which for me was an eternity. Over the years my bikes got bigger and faster but I have fond memories of my Nighthawk S. I agree with @sandebud that this is a very easy bike to ride and own. He said he put racing handlebars on it so it would handle better, which I did not find to be the case. At any rate, much of the plastic looked 40 years old and the fairing had been glued back together near the bottom hinge. I do not detect any wiggle in the steering stop so I chose not to replace the bearings. The Nighthawk drives and stops straight.\r\n\r\nI'm sure the price is discounted given all of the parts I've replaced, but I wanted to be transparent with the work I've done.
