I have decided to list my very dear to me Beck Spyder. The decision did not come easily nor quickly. It is an amazing fun car that attracts an unbelievable amount of attention, as you might imagine. In the last couple of years I have endured two shoulder surgeries and multiple other physical issues resulting from a bike crash. The Spyder is amazingly fun, but not an easy comfortable ride. It is a demanding automobile and provides instantaneous response to correct, or incorrect maneuvering, if you grasp my point. As you can tell from the mileage, I have driven the Spyder on some very enjoyable trips. The previous owner purchased the car in Texas from an estate sale approx 10 years prior to selling to me. Unfortunately there was very little in the way of a definitive history, just the mileage as indicated in the documentation provided. With as little as he drove the car in primarily FL locations, I suspect the car had no experience in the rain. There is no wind screen wiper motor installed. That changed somewhat once the car arrived in Colorado and with the help of the Beck people (Special Edition Co. - stilling building the car today) installed a top for mountain driving in Colorado.\r\nThe Spyder runs very well, a lot of HP for 1,300 lbs, but it is still a 35 year old vehicle (with many unbelievable years left to negotiate the highways, etc.), that requires care and attention doubtfully not necessary on a brand new automobile. It uses a modicum of oil, not unexpected with an air-cooled motor, and leaks a bit, as every VW engine is required to do. I have changed the oil frequently, 3,000 - 4,000 miles along with the two oil filters. I had an additional oil radiator added to make sure the engine temperature remained in the acceptable zone. It is really a work of an artist/mechanic.\r\nPlease contact me with any and all questions. I have to move the seat up to be able to fully depress the clutch. At least on the third Gen cars with the firewall recessed I have plenty of room. Definitely a challenge getting in and out. Getting in you just kind of fall into it. Getting out is more of a challenge, but even I manage.
