Any shortcomings with this auction are not reflective of my experiences with them over the last dozen years. It\u2019s true they don\u2019t know much about this car, but they seem to be selling it as a favor to a customer. My usual sales person was out today, but the person who showed us the car was friendly, professional, and patient.\r\n\r\n2. To my eye, the car presents as white. I saw it outside in bright sunlight. Perhaps not as white as the new white Porsches on the lot, but also not the creamy color I have seen on other Light Ivory Porsches. As the seller noted, the paint looks good from a distance. As they also noted, it\u2019s not as good up close. Some good news about the paint: the spots on the bumpers and fenders are just dirt. Also, the chrome trim pieces generally looked a little better than in the photos. The engine grill appeared to be new and looked a little too new to me.\r\n\r\n3. We did not drive the car, but we were able to start it. It sounded rough and almost died a few times at first, but after running for a while, it sounded okay. Cosmetically, the engine looked okay.\r\n\r\n4. The panel gaps and overall fit of the car are wonky. I\u2019ve never seen panel gaps like this. The frunk latches closed, but isn\u2019t snug, and it sits up noticeably even when closed. At one point, I walked up to the car from the side and thought we had forgotten to close the frunk\u2014it sticks up that much. Everywhere we looked, it just felt off. The passenger door makes the \u201cping\u201d but it is not exactly flush. The rear decklid is way off and the rear center panel was very loose, but we couldn\u2019t tell why. And there\u2019s something off on the left side where the rear center panel attaches to the car. You can see in photos 128 to 131 that the left side is not straight. We couldn\u2019t tell whether perhaps there had been an accident. We weren\u2019t able to poke around enough to comment on rust, other than the front tub issues that already have been discussed.\r\n\r\n5. The replacement dashboard looks good. The seats look fine but the driver\u2019s seat was not supportive and may benefit from restoration or replacement. I didn\u2019t try the passenger seat. The windows both rolled up and down perfectly. It could use new carpets. Overall, the interior looked a little better to me than in the photos.\r\n\r\n6. I was born the same year as this car, and overall, I\u2019d say it probably needs about as much work as I do. The salesman mentioned to us that his Porsche Classic people thought the car was a great deal at the then current bid of $29,500. I agree and I will bid accordingly\u2014after all, this car and I share a birthday. Someone at the dealership mentioned they thought it might be worth $60,000.
