BMW factory had decided to put a defective coolant expansion tank on all these BMWs. Do NOT ever fill the expansion tank to FULL. I made that mistake and it caused the expansion tank to burst. which caused the blue BMW coolant to spray all over the engine. The coolant got into the alternator and caused some weird CPU to throw weird warnings. I replaced the alternator myself. unfortunately, I did not replace with a Bosch unit. Went with the Valeo brand. The weird warning messages continued. I finally decided to take the local BWM specialist and they diagnosed that the Valeo did not put out the required voltage that this BMW requires. Therefore putting out weird warning messages. Once the Valeo alternator was replaced with a Bosch unit, the vehicle ran fine. This took 2-3 years of me chasing this error. So we didn't trust the vehicle going long distances at the time due to the warning, hence it wasn't driven much so it has low mileage.\r\n\r\nSince we babied the vehicle. This X5 was never driven in the snow or ice during winter. No salt on the under carriage as seen in the photo. I have other 4x4 in the house that I would drive whenever there's salt on the road.\r\n\r\nAlso in reference to the comment about hitting a dear. That's not acorrect statement. The vehicle actually clipped the hind leg of the deer. so there's really cosmetic damage on the front corner of the bumper.
