That worked fine for a few years then I noticed places I didn't glue sort of frayed and curled a bit. So I decided to heat the entire sticker with heat gun to loosen glue, peel it off, trim it with exacto to create nice clean straight edge and then reglue the entire sticker. The first part of peeling came away easily, but when it hit the part I spot glued, the darn thing tore. Turns out, the glue I used was heat tolerant. Big mistake. I was soo mad! I bought mine with 17lk miles and was confident the bike we run every week. But, just because it was run all fluids need to be changed at, for me, 2-3 years. I understand not wanting to put mileage on it but these engines but they needs to be run. They should have put a hobs meter tracking the engine hours. The good news is that its a Gold Wing engine. But Honda dealers here in Florida wont work on 10+ year bikes. First thing I did was change all fluids. Don't forget the final drive. This bike is 2 feet longer than my Harley Road King. I never thought a Harley would be much easier to handle. I took a Police motorman's course and suggest everyone on a bike take the course. If you an avid rider this may no be necessary but this is a different machine with a long wheel base. With all that being said it is one of the most unbelievable feelings owning and riding a Rune. I took it to Harley Davidson to pick up parts for the Harley and when I got back to the bike I had a crowd surrounding the bike. You will probably never see another Rune on the road. Amazing 19 yr old hasn\u2019t needed anything. Since low milage use, I adopted my own schedule based on time. Simply oil, brake, clutch and coolant replaced every 2 yrs. I replaced battery in 2021, 2 full tire changes (2016, 2022/23) and final drive oil in 2019 (book says at 8k miles but not worth risk). Cadence aways in January so next round for regular fluid changes would be Jan \u201925 if me. Pads checked regularly but all fine. Tire manufacture dates are 2021 (rear), 2023 (front). Tire wear always been even. I use 6 yr rule on manufacturing date even though always plenty thread left and never been any visible deterioration on rubber. I did switch to beads vs weights. \r\n\r\nI don\u2019t use trickle charger, but I run it frequently at operating temperature for at least 10-15 mins if my use doesn\u2019t minimally cover that already. I use thermos gun but if valve cover too hot to hold, that good enough indicator it\u2019s at temperature. I do swap back forth between ethanol/non-ethanal because of convenience and I already keep large store of non-ethanal for outboard marine engines. I wash it inside workshop because that water is filtered it doesn\u2019t leave water spots and outside faucets don\u2019t go through filters. After initial heat up (also important), a few laps around our 3 downtown blocks real slow, clutch a lot so I can wave friends then over to highway so I can run it at good temp. Occasionally test 11 second to 100 stat which I count in my head so convinced I beat that. But I think that important for many reasons to include injectors, blow out exhaust, moisture, carbons, etc. \r\n\r\nCars and coffee occasionally only 8 mile away. Occasional trips to Summit Raceway West VA, family member\u2019s amateur race club rents track once a year. I go for the all-you-can eat bbq. Its about 3 1/2 hr drive just perfect for my old joints. Also I spent last 30 yrs installing and maintaining hydraulics, water makers (desalinization) and auxiliary engines for long distant offshore ocean (extreme) racing sailboats and distance cruisers. 95% of issues my teams\u2019 deal with come from periods of non-use. This is survival stuff, we only use very proven equipment for these critical applications, lives depend on it. And redundancy frequently not an option due to weight preferences/competition and space issues. So we use only products with very good engineering, extensively tested in extreme conditions. But I think sometimes they don\u2019t really engineer or test enough for non-use. And that very hard to do. Moment that thing stops being used, deterioration starts so fast. So I\u2019m always relieved to hear crew finished alive but I start worrying then.
