I like this Junior.\r\n\r\nIt\u2019s also refreshing to see a car on auction at BaT that states restoration costs that aren\u2019t in the stratosphere. Granted that\u2019s for \u201cmost of the work\u201d and certainly doesn\u2019t reflect the total investment, but it does show that a nicely prepared car doesn\u2019t have to cost a king\u2019s ransom. On the other hand, we have no clue where the reserve is and I may just be talking through my hat. We\u2019ll see, but my hunch is that the price of this great little French item will be reasonable.\r\n\r\nThe supercharger is fascinating; could the seller provide any more details such as make, etc. It appears to be tailor-made for the Panhard engine what with the long drive shaft, possibly an aftermarket installation kit for some off-the-shelf compressor. And the pulley sizes make it look under-driven (i.e., drive pulley smaller than driven pulley), so a modest boost with very flat torque curve would be expected. More info, please!\r\n\r\nThe comment that the fan is missing seems incorrect, there being a fan visible in the pictures. I would have expected some shrouding to direct the airflow, but all of the pictures I could find online show Dyna Juniors without shrouding and with the style of fan that this car has. The larger model Panhards have shrouding, but maybe just the fan is adequate for the Junior. The supercharger on this one may warrant a cylinder head temperature gauge though, just in case.\r\n\r\nAnd being one that gets bogged down in details, I like what appears to be the hand brake linkage on the firewall just above the battery with the cables going to the front wheels. Either that or one mondo hood latch mechanism.\r\n\r\nThe French blue works very well, but my personal jury is still out on the red upholstery. While looking at Dyna Junior pictures online it seemed that this one doesn\u2019t have as much front to rear \u201carch\u201d or curvature to the body line as others. Then I noticed that on this one the top door sill is lower, which probably reduces the visual arch effect. All the Juniors shown on line have top door sills that follow the body line and wrap inward, resulting in the tops of the doors being at shoulder level for many occupants. The cut down doors probably make the interior more comfortable. Was that a factory styling change or a personal modification on this car?\r\n\r\nAs to performance, Panhards racing history has already been mentioned, and that includes Dyna Juniors. I know of some period Panhard-powered H-Modified race cars that are very quick, and the link below provides a slide show of a Dyna Junior racing at the 2016 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. I was at that race, and while the Junior wasn\u2019t a barn burner it was also not an embarrassment. I\u2019d put its performance on par with a stock Bugeye Sprite (not a \u201cprepared\u201d Sprite), which is probably a good comparison as it appeared to be a stock Panhard. In the slide show note the French tricolor that mimics the factory Junior race cars, as well as the visual \u201carch\u201d to the bodywork mentioned above. I wouldn\u2019t venture out on the Interstate in a Dyna Junior, but this one with a supercgarger should be a nice neighborhood and around town driver.\r\n\r\nThis is what I like to see on BaT \u2013 a little variety. The 750 was a Lotus Eleven and it did run but didn't finish. The wheel lug incident occurred several years later with the Lotus 23 that had just the month before led by a bunch at the Nurburgring until an exhaust header broke and Jim Clark was too woozy to continue. The French feared the 23 would run away with the Index win and since it had 4 lugs on the front and 6 on the rear came up with a new rule that said the spare wheel must fit both ends of the car. Chapman had four bolt rear hubs machined and flown over in one day, fitted them and re-presented the car to scutineering where they judged the fixing to be inadequate as it had previously required six bolts. When you raise it, there is two bows only, one over the dual rear plastic windows and the other one, goes in between that bow and the top's windshield header. Both of those bows are visible in the auctions pictures.
