Shigeru Uehara was responsible for this car's development (the man behind the NSX, NSX-R, S2000, & S2000 CR) and it shows when one is behind the wheel. Beyond that, it is a true homologation car for Japanese GT racing as well as European Group A racing (FIA homologation #5590, the paperwork is still available on the FIA's website), the primary reason that Honda produced it in the first place. And, at least for the initial cars, Honda lost money on every one produced due to a lack of compromise in materials and the construction process (specially welded chassis, etc.). IMHO, if I was given a choice between this Type R or the new Civic Type R, I would take this care hands down. Understated, particularly in Black. The V-Tech engines in my Integra's always sounded like the \"on-board\" sound of Nascar cars. A stretch...maybe. But with the confines of a 65 or 70 MPH speed limit in California, the sounds of a high revving engine getting to the speed limit is \"oh so nice\".
