There is some sun bleacing on the weatherstrip on the passenger side that can be seen in pics. It has never been detailed in it's 52 years. It was polished and waxed in 2013 (we never saw the crazing in the dr. side quarter before that). The carpet had a \"high heel\" hole near the gas pedal and was replaced. The picture (second pic in tenth row) shows the condition of the floor under the new carpets. The entire floor is original paint and rust free as in the pic. Same in the trunk. A great & distinctive car for a high school kid-- memorable enough that some people still ask about it. The only really fault with the design which I found annoying was the steering ratio-- way too slow/many turns lock-to-lock. Believe power steering had a better ratio but do not see it here. When returning to center after a sharp, low speed turn the wheel would spin like a dervish (keep hands clear!); also, any sudden evasive moves required about 200\u00ba rotation, as I recall-- not the best/safest. Also recall with the short hood/bonnet, etc., people riding with me thinking I was speeding at mundane speeds. (And when taken up over 100 they really had to change their shorts.) All in all a great car (and street sleeper), otherwise. Notice the holes in the package tray...if you vent the interior of the car by opening a window or the fresh air vent, the cabin air flow through them and out through vents that open in the taillight housing above the lens. I believe that was only available on the 66.\n\nThe Sport Sedan was Studebaker's top of the line for their final year of production. After the closing of the South Bend, Indiana plant, no hardtops or convertibles (or pickups) were built. 805 of them were built with the 283 V-8. Another 270 six cylinder cars were also produced. Of the known survivors (according to the registry thru the Studebaker Drivers Club) there are some 50 still in existance including parts cars and non runners. Being built in Janurary and with the production halted in March, there are only 7 known examples built after this one and only one other black car is noted. Only 905 total V-8 Studebakers of any model were ever made after this one.\n\nI invite you to ask questions. Zoom in on the pictures and look as closely as you can. Lost the driver's rear tire about 40 miles north of Longview WA but made it to a tire shop and got 4 new tires. No body or suspension damage, wheel was unharmed as well. She made the 900+ mile drive back but ran a little bit rough, a bit noticeable noticeable when cold, would smooth out after warming up, and then reappear when idling at a stoplight. Rebuilt the carb, tried a few other adjustments with timing, and consulted the local club's collective knowledge. We all ended up scratching our heads. Went to a recommended shop and they did a leakdown and compression test and found it was the #2 exhaust valve. Took the opportunity to do a valve job so it can run unleaded without worrying about lead substitute. From that point onward, I drove it about 2-3 times a week when the weather was good and it was a decent daily driver aside from no A/C, power steering or powered brakes haha. With a short non-highway commute to work, it's a great runabout on sunny days and handling errands on the weekend.\n\nCurrent plans are still working on getting the radio working, replacing the door and trunk seals as a preventative measure (no issues at all when it got rainy), tightening the hood ornament (little loose), and sorting the fuel gauge gremlin out (it was not the sender as that was replaced, probably the gauge/panel). When it was converted from a 3spd manual to a Flight-O-Matic before leaving the factory, the speedometer/odometer gear in the transmission wasn't changed so it reads quick at about a 1.2:1 ratio (reads 60mph when doing 50mph); it will get swapped when the trans gets serviced. Silver lining, it has even fewer miles on it than originally thought! \n\nOverall, it's been a joy and I love driving it as much as possible.\n\nEDIT: I found out through meeting local club members that one of them was another bidder on this auction!
