Dad bought the car (without asking for permission, of course) while he was stationed at the Detroit Tank Arsenal in the early 60's. I remember driving with him to Florida in '64- we were going to live there while he was deployed to Vietnam. On the way down the fuel pump went out in Tennessee and it took a week to get a new part and get here running again which must have been stressful with the deployment imminent. After Vietnam the car wasn't driveable and was partially disassembled for years and followed the family from move to move. \r\n\r\nAfter Dad retired in the '90s a complete teardown and restoration was done with the assistance of a local classic car shop. She wasn't driven much after that because of Dad's failing health and she was hard to start. I had the man who did the restoration take a look at her in 2011 after Dad was in assisted living to try and get him some ride time in the car. A 12/6 volt battery/relay starting system was put in and that helped the starting. Unfortunately Dad passed but we did get the car running and there for his memorial and down to the Mid America meet.\r\n\r\nI drove the car periodically for a couple of years. However, the battery and relay failed after an extended crank. I've learned that you can't make someone else's passion yours and the Lincoln while unusual, cool, pretty, etc. is not my passion. Now that I am downsizing she needs to find a new home. Hopefully BAT will be a good matchmaker to find that new passionate owner. I wish I'd seen your comment earlier because I did get a chance to do some work on the car with a very helpful friend of mine today.\r\n\r\nSo- the brakes are now functional- filled fluid reservoir and bled the lines and now have a firm pedal. No idea where the fluid went as there are no visible leaks. By the way, Dad had it built with silicon fluid, DOT5.\r\n\r\nRegarding the no start. Removed the 12v/6v relay system and used a big tractor battery to see if we could get it started. Got a click, no start so replaced the starter solenoid. So now it cranks but no start. We did not have spark because it appears there is a wiring issue with the body/ignition harness so we couldn't get power to the coils thru the ignition switch. Lincoln has new plugs and the distributors/ignition system were sent out and rebuilt/calibeated in 2011. I don't know if I will be able to arrange to have someone look at the wiring issue before auction end. I read the comments regarding the mech. issues and gave it a go. It's not that I won't spend a \"couple of bucks\". It's time, distance, and some other conflicts. I always thought you had to have 5 names and one of them would reflect that your grandmother was a Melton or Morgan.\n\nIt's a darn good thing the sellers dad restored this when he did because 1) the chrome work here is great 2) there is a lot of it (astute observation Captain Obvious) 3) the current pricing of chromework would prevent many cars from being restored\n\nI've been up close to one at an auction and they are magnificent .
