They are a bit of a throw back, but only in the best possible way. They all have manual transmissions, reverted back to hydraulic steering, no sunroof option, analog Miata-like HVAC dials, and a double bubble roof for more helmet room.\r\n\r\nThey also are pretty dark inside due to the lack of sunroof and black headliner. They have horrible blind spots due to a sloping C pillar and angled rear window. While lighter than the comparable E46 M, they are way less practical - with no rear seats and less trunk space. Where they excel is driving as a true sports car should (note: I would disagree with characterizing them as a GT car, maybe only when compared to something like an Elise). I find them to drive very much like a front engine Porsche 911. \r\n\r\nThis one has good maintenance, reasonable miles, and a sought after color. I would also say that the rear seat bulk head and misc. electronics / battery in the back are worth 300lbs and when lost make for massive rear visibility improvements as well as a much more airy and less claustrophobic driving experience.\r\n\r\nI'm not suggesting or advising that someone should buy a fine stock(ish) example and do the hatchback conversion as I've done, being potentially collectible (what isn't and who know what decades will bring), but if you're holding one as a collectible I will say you're welcome for modding mine to the 9's. And every-time I drive, I welcome the move to a more pure driving machine without all the \"outght-naught to have sprung for all that pseudo modern tech\" junk ruining the experience. I never had any trouble seeing enough of what was behind me, or over-the-shoulder visibility for lane changes etc. For what the car is, I think visibility is actually very good. Never bothered me one bit.\r\n\r\nAs for the navigation, yes it was already obsolete when the car debuted in 2006. It's slow, low-resolution, and very clumsy to interact with. The flipover screen is an abomination in the center of the dash, and are known to rattle. Some people like to have it, but in this car, I'd much rather do without.\r\n\r\nThe current high bid is very low considering we're down to 1 day to go. These cars are definitely appreciating in value now - buy this one, and if you don't love it, sell it in a couple of years for more than you paid for it. Better yet, keep it forever. The front bumper could use a respray/refinish. The steering wheel and shift knob are fine IMO, it's most certainly not peeling, it's just the glare in the picture. Obviously, leather surfaces wear, but the interior is in good shape. It really doesn't need anything, the only thing I can think is that the front tires should be replaced in the next thousand or so miles. I have a shop and I don't skimp on addressing mechanical issues when they arise, that being said, it's been a very reliable car. Granted, it's low mileage, but the only mechanical failure I've experienced was when the power steering high pressure line rubbed on the oil pan ever so slightly and gradually wore a hole through it.
