The transmission shifts great, no grinds and has never popped out of gear once. Also, the LS3 in this car doesn't weigh too much more (and according to some sources it's actually less) than the M54 it replaced. As mentioned above, the \"easy\" way to do this swap for CA smog is to use the CARB approved E-Rod crate motor from GM and then have it BAR certified. However, I have a friend who recently did this swap on an NA Miata (which has plenty of performance, as it turns out), and the donor car needed to be OBD-I era to make it kosher. So I don't know what lurks for an OBD-II era chassis like this one. \r\n\r\nThe other way to go is to get it BAR refereed with the motor that it has--the big issue I see there is that the donor engine is from an Escalade. As a truck motor, it met different emissions standards from the factory (even if the engine is essentially the same as the car version), and putting that engine in a non-truck might be a non-starter.
