This car is my son's. He is in college at UCLA (hence the pictures on campus). He is currently in Austria/Germany for the next 7+ months on a semester abroad, and this is why we are selling this car. I'm in Austin, Texas. The car is back in our hometown of Mill Valley, CA (with a signed title, and all the original keys) with a good friend who's offered to assist in the sale. \n\nMany of you may know this car from the previous owner and it's presence on the Audi forums. We did, and when it came up for sale approximately three years ago we snapped it up immediately and shipped it to CA. No regrets. IMHO and my son's, it's the best looking B6 USP we've ever seen. My son coveted this car and has babied it, as did the prior owner. It's never seen a car wash - hand washed only, and it's never had an accident or body work. The upgrades are all hand-picked, expensive and perfect for the car. The coilovers offer, again IMHO, perfect fitment and the big brake kit makes this car stop on a dime. The wheels are also all original and are nearly flawless (and there are five of them). The tires probably have less than 5K on them. \n\nAs is indicated in the CarFax, this car spent it's early life in New Jersey so the undercarriage has typical northeast road corrosion, but is not a rust-bucket. There is no body panel corrosion. It was garaged at home and at work during it's time in NJ, and it has been garaged in CA. It also has a fair amount of pitting on the front end from NJ. Let's face it, it's 13 years old, and for that age apart from the pitting on the front end, it's almost flawless. \n\nIt is difficult, but not impossible for us to get more photos. We can ask a friend to crawl underneath, or I'll ask our good friends at Marin Motorsports (who have serviced the car) if they can pick it up, lift it, and snap some photos. I'll see what I can do.\n\nAs far as the Thule racks, not sure I understand the comment. It's pretty simple, they don't come with the car, but they were on when the pictures were taken. My son carries his bikes often, so they are always on the car. If you are interested, I'm sure we can work a deal on them, but when he comes back from Europe he is taking my '08 B7 S4 Avant, so the plan was to swap these racks to the S4.\n\nI will also try to get a closeup of the small ding near the roof rail, It's small, and we aren't sure how it happened. The scratches are almost entirely limited to the front valance and are evident in the pictures. The rest of the car is perhaps as perfect as any 2005 could be, as is evident in the pictures. I believe the front seat is flawless and has no cracks or tears. We will confirm, but the pictures included do not indicate abnormal/excessive wear.\n\nI am pretty sure we are on the original timing belt, water pump and tensioner. I will confirm with my son.\n\nAs far as a dyno bhp, not sure, but a quick search of the GIAC Stage 1 indicates: \"+30 hp, 50 ftlbs with stock injector program\". The switcher is included and different mapping is possible. With the coilovers, lowering and larger sway bar the body roll is minimal. It tracks like it's on rails (better than my stock B7 S4 Avant).\n\nMy son is on an eight hour time difference, but I'll have him chime in to clarify what I cannot. I own a Brilliant Red 04 1.8t 6spd Quattro USP myself and have driven it daily for 15 years. Mine is pre S-Line branding and an early import for the 04 year when the USP package rolled out.\r\n\r\nI simply love this package, starting with the chassis- when the B6 was released Audi really produced a stiffer chassis for us over the b5, which resulted in a very stable and connected car. Pair that with Torsen Quattro, a tunable engine with five valves per cylinder, six speed transmission and non-servotronic assisted steering; you've got a great driver's car. The ultra sport package aero maintains the Bauhaus styling Peter Schreyer developed for the B6 by following the lines beautifully. The aero kit is sharp yet subtle with the German bumper in the rear being shorter. This car loves both the corners and the highways. \r\n\r\nAs a long time owner I can say preventative maintenance is a must. Mainly timing belt service every 75k miles or sooner. Common parts replaced are things like coolant flange, valve cover gaskets, and plastic bits as they get old and parts that would fail on any car with constant use. The car is very straight forward and easy to diagnose by capable mechanics with a world of knowledge online at this point too. Also a great bunch of modifications and aftermarket support to make it even better. I have B6 S4 Nappa Leather Recaro interior in mine with RS4 pedals. The car fits like a glove. You sit nice and low with great visibility and control of the machine. \r\n\r\nMy car is a Mid Atlantic car and has some corrosion on the underside. Minimal and doesn't worry me one bit. I just enjoy the car and use it. Some of us have racked up huge miles on these cars. 300, 400, 500k+ miles and counting. Sort of the last modern mechanically-biased A4 platform, in my opinion too. This same service had been done earlier in the car's life also, but in 2013 the belt loosened (due to a faulty pulley or tensioner) and the entire service (including the water pump) was re-done under warranty. This last service was performed in May 2013, and we purchased the car in April 2015 with 123 K miles on it. Assuming around 10 K miles per year, that would have placed the service at approximately 103 K miles. The pictures are attached, and unfortunately his friend was only able to get to the car in the late evening. Additionally, this car is lowered on coilovers, so getting under it isn't easy. He did his best. I will address these individually:\n\nScratches: The scratches are primarily limited to the front bumper / valence. Looking closely you will be able to see the flaws. (the worst of which is on the passenger's side just above the fog light / intake grill). These photos also highlight the rock chip / pitting mentioned in the write-up. There are also a few minor scratches on the rear bumper, I believe from an inconsiderate parallel park job by a non-enthusiast. The rest of the car is near perfect with no notable scratches. \n\nDing on roof line: The ding is fairly small, and does not appear to have chipped paint. I'd have to believe a paintless dent repair would be possible if the tech could get to it from inside. \n\nDriver and Passenger Seat Condition: I think the condition was fairly obvious from the original pictures, but these two photos should indicate the overall near-perfect condition of the seating surfaces.\n\nCorrosion: The worst of the corrosion / surface rust is near the rear of the car and appears to be focused near the strut mounts (and the strut mounts are welded according to the original owner). I'm not an expert, but corrosion near the front end/suspension of the car appears normal for a car this age. To date, this corrosion has presented no issues. These pictures are about as good as my son's friend could get in the dark with a lowered car. The USP package, the overall wagon/avant look/feel and functionality make it a cult classic. It also is a bit sentimental to me, since I owned from new, a 99.5 sedan with cloth sport seats and a 06 S4 avant, this car is a nice blend of the two. While the car is not fast by today's standards, nor running at it's best, it offers a unique turbo driving experience that brings me back to the car experience from the late 90s, early 00s. Love looking at this car, really enjoy the overall driving experience and will take the time to restore this car, upgrade/tune even more and drive it almost daily with joy.\r\n\r\nThis is my second successful auction on BAT, after many wishful/unsuccessful bids on other cars. I recently bought an another car on BAT. The car in person, lived up to almost 98% of the way the car was photographed. I love the car and feel that the auction and transaction were very transparent. The car was perfectly clean and a joy to get into and drive home from CO to CA with my 6yr old daughter. What a joy and no surprises.\r\n\r\nI am not a super active community member, in regards to comments, since I am far from a subject matter expert on any car, so I leave it to the ones that are. I do really value however the input, collaboration and expertise from the community members, it's critical! It's a community that continues to build on it's transparency, full disclosure and desire to offer higher quality listings in the spirit of; community education, stewardship for unique modern day classics, passion for the driving/ownership experience and an overall better value for the buyers and the sellers. A truly unique car community that breeds confidence in bidding, way beyond your normal auction or used car buying experience from craigslist. \r\n\r\nWith this in mind, I cautiously share my disappointment in this auction. I would like to offer some honest feedback to our transaction, that can hopefully provide some learnings to improve future auctions and put into perspective the reality of this one from my point of view. I do believe the learnings below lead to a higher auction price, certainly a higher willingness on my part to join in on the auction and I suspect others as well. Language matters, pictures matter and how we portray cars for sale on this site matters, especially for the long term sustainability of this community.\r\n\r\nI will point out that I believe the circumstances of this auction play a factor as well in the oddity of this transaction. The driver/owner of this car, the son, is in Germany and did not participate in the auction. The father/seller of this car, was in Texas but very knowledgeable of the car and it's history, but not the daily driver of the car. The car was stored at the local mechanic in Marin, CA for an unknown disclosed amount of time.\r\n\r\nThe car was well photographed and represented with a very positive light. The overall variant, tuning and customization appeal to a certain buyer. The bike rack photographed in the ad (while not included in sale),could be called \"marketing\" photography tactic that was indeed called out in the auction by another member, but nevertheless left me a bit duped. I saw this auction last minute and got sucked in, my fault for not reading auction/comments thoroughly in the end, odd for me when actually bidding, which lead to me being deceived by this detail. Had a CUV for work & usually a 2nd Audi so only averaged 4K miles/yr.Never abused & tracked only once.Interesting that right now on ACNA Facebook sale site there is a 05 USP avant-red-w/131K miles with similar mods as this one & mine.
