This car has been driven under 3,000 miles a year and maintained and refreshed as needed over the years. Paint, mechanicals and upholstery do wear out eventually and thankfully it's needs seem to have been addressed appropriately. I believe those asking questions about paint colors, etc. are also correct that deviations from original spec typically will alter the ultimate bidding numbers on this car. One made a comment about the rusty soft top bow, but failed to note that the front bow should be covered with glued on cloth to hold it in place, unless it was a top made for an early 230SL, where that bow wasn't used. Nit picking you say, but......if that bow isn't there or if it isn't glued to the soft top, you will notice a lot more wind buffeting at speeds over 40 mph.\n@carstruck\ngreetings again. Rust is a very real problem with these cars as none were galvanized and many were driven year around. As used parts are valuable, many of the rusty cars were parted out. Rust repair is prohibitively expensive, especially if it involves the structural part of the unibody as can occur if the drain holes below the fresh air intake become clogged and water then sits in the uni-body. This car doesn't seem to have any present rust issues though it would take a PPI to determine if the trunk and cabin floors have been replaced. The photos that I have reviewed don't adequately show the fender spot weld nor the \"notches\" to see if new fenders were welded in. The floors are covered with dynamat so those photos don't help. BTW the photos of the hard top don't show the condition of the headliner which is often a concern as many hardtops are stored off in a dark, wet corner of a garage for years. The cognac MB Tex looks great ,especially in those areas that aren't typically replaced, like the soft top cover and the dash pad.
